As I was looking for an obvious break in the EVAP tubing, I realized that the axle leak had gotten much worse and has puked diff oil all over the wheel well and brake rotor. Good thing I ordered the new axle shafts, but now my hopes of hitting the trails next weekend may be shot. 😢

Our gas cap warning ended up being the leak detection pump on the EVAP canister. 30 dollar Mopar part. I did smoke the system prior to that with this thing: https://wayalife.com/showthread.php...-Automotive-Smoke-Machine-Leak-Detector/page2 but no leaks were found.

Thanks... Yours is one of the threads I read through. I didn't see any obvious breaks in any of the connections, nor had I done anything with the Jeep at the time it popped up, so I'm leaning towards that part or the o-ring between it and the canister.

How does it come off the canister? I've seen several articles on that being the issue, but I have yet to see a description of how to remove it... Is it bolted or clipped on? Can it be removed without taking apart the whole canister? Mine is wrapped in an EVO skid, so it could be a pain to get to.

We have the rock hard 4x4 skid so I assume it's similar. If you can see the pump, you shouldn't have to drop the canister at all. You literally rotate that pump/sensor 90 degrees and then pull it out. Very easy. I found it easier to remove the pump from the canister, THEN disconnect the hose. It made it easier to pull the hose off.
Our pump did not come with a new oring, so if you're planning on doing both, make sure and order that as well.

Awesome! Thanks for the info and heads-up. Is there a way to test the pump or did you just replace it assuming it was the problem?

Well, I went through the tubing connections one more time and didn't see or feel anything damaged. I went ahead and ordered a leak detection pump and new o-ring... Hopefully that will take care of the issue.

Also ordered a Trail Rated badge to cover the hole that's gonna be left behind when I remove the factory antenna mount. It looks like it should be pretty close to the right size.

Good luck. I also posted a tip in another thread yesterday. For whatever reason, two scan tools would not clear the code after I replaced the part. However, disconnecting the Jeep's battery for 30 seconds did clear the code. :idontknow:

Thanks for that tip... My new o-ring showed up today so I replaced the pump and pulled the battery cable for a couple minutes. I still can't drive her, but I let her idle for a few minutes and the gas cap warning didn't pop so hopefully this succeed in fixing that issue. 🤞
