Should I Get a Supercharger For My Jeep JK ?

As for a supercharger, everyone I know that has installed one in their jeep has regretted it. I did see a couple of people on youtube that have it and love it. They do cool stuff like donuts at the mall and whatnot.

LOL - That is the truth! :cheesy: Of all the people in the industry that I personally know, NONE of them run a super charger or would want to. I have been offered to run 2 different setups over the last 7 years and I declined both even though I was running 37's and then 40's during that time. Not as if people weren't always complaining about me driving too fast as it was even with my pathetic 3.8L motor at the time. As far as axles go, you don't need a HEMI or an LS to warrant the need for a set of ProRock 60's - that is, not if you're really playing as hard with your Jeep as you'd like to think you are. :crazyeyes:

Alright, so after the argument with my wife last night and this thread, I will deff not be getting a super charger. :thumb:

Three cheers for re-gear! :wings::wings::wings:

Just a note but you would still need to be geared appropriately for your tire size even if you went with a SC. As you have read, the superchargers have their pros and cons but one thing for sure is it won't make up for having the wrong gears with big tires.

100% agree With not having to put Dana's on front and back but what's the point in having a ls or hemi without being able to wheel it the way it should be wheeled.

Btw I love this app! Not to many "jeep guys" where I live so it's nice to have a platform to learn from the best

I agree with you there. I understand the tire size/gear ratio as well as the next joe with his first Jeep. But, I admit that I drank the kool aid of the supercharger companies and untill last night, I was chomping at the bit to get one. Lucky for me, my wife is amazing and reminded me that its a JEEP, not a race car! :D

LOL!! It's definitely the sensible thing to do and being that so many people are already having issues with their 3.6L and just with CAI's installed, I think it's the smarter thing to do as well.

Very true. Proper gear ratio would still be needed regardless.

Oh, I'm with you on this. If you are going to run a HEMI or LS, it'd be silly not to have a set of ProRocks installed at the same time. My only point is that I needed ProRocks BEFORE I got an LS as I was breaking my axles even with my wimpy 3.8L motor. :crazyeyes:

I think this could be the answer for those of us who are wary of the cooling and software problems that sometimes happen with LS and Hemi swaps. My 2012 JKUR spent its first 35K miles in Arizona with no cooling issues so I think it will handle the Edelbrock. Off road the 3.6 does an adequate job. It's on the road and especially in the rarer air of the Colorado mountains where the weight of the JK is an issue. Fully loaded with suspenion, winch, bumpers, armor and pulling a small travel trailer for a weekend you'll be nearing the redline more than you like. We've had mixed reviews about the other blowers on the market. Hope this one from an old company is on the mark.:yup:

I always liked procharger I think I would really look into one of there kits from past experience with them.

i trust edelbrock because they are such a reliable source for the hot rod industry. If i ever wanted to go supercharger route instead of v8 swap i would consider it.

Cooling is a major issue with superchargers as well -- when you compress air you heat air. We've tinkered with this on a blown 3.2 and needed to go with a larger intercooler pump, heat exchanger and thermostat to help lower the temperatures.

Which Supercharger?

I just received my Ripp for my 2012 JKUR and it should be going in Saturday. I'm pumped about it I'll let you know how it goes. I also liked the idea that a twin screw SC because it kicks in at a lower Rpm but I would rather go with the manufacture that has the best support due to the most kits on the road.

No replacement for Displacement..... That being said if I were going to do up the V6. on the cheap I would put a pro charger on. if you really wanted to have fun pull the motor full balance it, match all weights with piston/rods ect. open the oil passages squeeze in bigger valves port polish every thing you can arp bolts to hold it together and lastly throw twin turbo's on that bad boy and throw 15 to 20 pounds of boost at it and off you go a 600 to 700 hundred horse power 1/4 mile runnin machine. and don't worry about the little details like tuning/ transmission explosion's/and reliability as you will have the coolest 4 door V6 in the country. vroom vroom bro.
