Rear axle leak

Maybe I missed it, but how's your front axle?

I'm about to change the oil on the front diff since I might as well get it done. But the tube and breather are all still good so I'm assuming it's fine.

Rear lost a breather hose prior to water crossings. Assuming breather stayed on it should be fine.

Water crossings, yes. But I'm thinking it was this that really did it in. I was axle deep in sandy water for awhile as we tried to get it out. IMG_1476142814.770978.jpg

you should invest in a recovery strap - if you ever see a chain snap it can do a lot of damage.

if you play in the mud/sand like that a bubba rope will help. at minimum you should get some regular recovery straps - make sure they have hoops and not metal hooks on the ends.

We had a recovery strap but it wasn't long enough. I definitely know that chains aren't the best but we were doing with what we had. We ended up jacking it up and putting rocks under in order to get out bc my buddy's truck wasn't getting enough traction to yank me out. I'm planning on buying a couple voodoo recovery ropes for the next time I go wheeling.

I know you are getting different responses, however, i personally would pull it apart and clean everything. Also well apart you can inspect the carrier bearings and axle bearings. Bare minimum I would pull the axles. You will save money I the long run from doing three or more oil changes and ensure the internals are good and clean. That being said, if you absolutely don't want to disassemble, changing the oil multiple times is the only way. On every oil change jack each side up separate and let axle tubes drain into housing.
