A mother was arrested for reckless conduct after her 10yo son walked less than a mile into town by himself. WTF is wrong with people today thinking this is a problem? My mom would have done hard time for all the "alone" time I did when I was 10. We'd walk, ride bikes, atc's, dirt bike all over with little or no adult supervision.

At the age of 10 we were all over the place and ranged as far as we could go on our bicycles. The only primary rules were to return in time for the next meal, and do our chores on Saturday.

My brothers live in the Ramona area (San Diego county). A few weeks ago their power was shut off for several days due to fire danger. Now they have an alert that power is likely to be shut off again. This is the "new normal".
It sucks needing to run a generator to keep the refrigerator running.

We got a whole house generator wired in about a year ago when authorities tried playing that game. Sucks but it also shows how sadly reliant and dependable we are on government/utilities and we need to be able to take care of ourselves in any situation.
