Picking A Lift

I have put this off for months now and I can put it off no longer. I need some help picking a lift based upon some of the things I lost below.

I have a 2008 Jku x with 120k miles on it and it's currently rocking 33's with stock rims. I wish I went with a more aggressive tire but I guess I had to learn it the hard way.

I want to make my rig look more aggressive and I want to go with a lift next.

This is my daily driver with the occasional moderate off roasting (nothing serious) so this lift is more for looks. I'm not looking at rehearing or going to 35's in the near future.

Can someone give me some recommendations based on this information for a lift. My bad just put a 2.5 inch budget boost lift on his Jku and I am definitely interested in that

If it were me based on what you're saying, I would just install a 2.5" budget boost and call it a day. No need for new springs, just install coil spacers with shock extensions. :yup:

The AEV 2" coil spacer lift is a great lift and one that is reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend it as well.

I installed Rock Krawler 1.5" springs from Northridge on mine. Buying the springs was actually cheaper at the time then a BB. After I had the springs I added to my suspension as funds came available and I gained more knowledge form what I read on the forum. The 1.5" springs netted me 2.5" of lift. Here's mine pictured with 33's. ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1443540171.131237.jpgImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1443540185.500781.jpg

I keep throwing this out because it has been a great improvement for me at a very reasonable price...Evo Leveling Kit. I ended up putting 1 3/4" spacer in the rear to balance mine better with the stock, chopped front bumper. The front springs are intended to accommodate an aftermarket bumper and winch, (which I still don't have). Eventually you could go to 35's on this kit with flat or chopped factory fenders. IMO, the ride is way better, on and off road, than my factory coils and spacers. Just my :twocents:

Here's mine on 33's...

Here's the front shock measurement at 21" instead of the stock 18.5"

Do you think it is worth the extra $100 verses something like the Rough Country 2.5 inch bb w/o springs? And is the .5 inch height difference noticeable.

I was considering getting the aev 2.5 inch lift for around $1,000 for awhile because I love the quality of their lifts but just didn't think it was worth it since it's mostly for look and less for performance.

Hmm so that is just the level kit with stock springs and shocks?

I went with the EVO Level Kit on mine too and I'm very pleased with the ride. Now I need to added some bigger tires and it will get Me by until I need a little more lift.

Go cheap, get a budget boost or you can find a 1.5" or 2.5" lift on craiglist pretty cheap from someone upgrading. Add some real shocks and call it a day. Don't forget to adjust your drag link and re-center the steering oh and most coils lift will lift over their named height if you have stock bumpers.

Cheapest budget boost works, get some quick disconnects and I have a hard on for Bilsteins shocks but just about any shock will beat the stock ones.

My previous coil spacer lift was Teraflex pieced together, so I can't really compare the two you're referencing.

All I know, and from my perspective, the EVO kit rides great. I'm running Rubi take off shocks (free), the EVO leveling front coils and the 1 3/4" rear spacer I bought separately. The kit comes with front springs (which you need to pull anyway to put spacers in) and 3/4" rear spacers. If I remember right it's about $230. You will not need anything else running 33's. I chose the taller rear spacer for my own preferences and added Spidertrax spacers purely for a better stance.

I'm sure the other BB's are fine, but if you are looking for a ride improvement over stock and a small lift, the EVO kit is it. I have zero regrets. I don't know what else I can say other than give you more specific descriptions of what I perceive as a better ride.

My build thread in the signature has a few comparison shots if you want more.

This is perfect thank you. I'll be sure to message you if I have any questions or decide to go for the Evo kit. I am running spacers right now to add a little more width. One of the first things I did.

How much did the rear spacer give you in extra lift? I was thinking of putting a little bigger spacer in mine too. It seems like mine might be a little lower then I want in the back and what brand did you buy?

I didn't measure the back at the shocks or coil buckets unfortunately. I already had a 3/4" spacer in the back with my 59 rear coils. Another new set of 3/4" spacers come in the EVO kit. I wanted another inch from the ground to the bottom of the rear fender. So I bought a set of 1" Teraflex rear spacers. If you watch (or are already familiar) their BB YouTube install video, you push the factory isolator onto the TF spacer. This is different than stacking similarly shaped rear spacers, which I'm told is not good. Instead of using the OEM isolator I used the EVO 3/4". Thats where I get the 1 3/4" from.

It would probably be easier to buy just the front coils (quoted at $189.99 somewhere on here from EVO or Trail Jeeps, I think). Then, depending on what rear spring you have, buy one spacer at the size you want or need, instead of piecing together like I did. I was trying to use what I already have due to how rural I live. I've had zero issues on road and mild wheeling. All this is of course if you'll be without a heavier front bumper and winch.

I hope that makes sense...no coffee yet.

Edit: Definitely no coffee yet! Thought you were the OP, TLC. Sorry, you already have the EVO kit...
