Panda's birthday trip

Think we'll be able to find hotels this late hour for Sat Night or is everyone gonna try to drive home? I vote for staying but I'm just Co-pilot the rest of you all are driving thinking Panda wants to grab hotel - He should have his phone again around 8:30 pm or so

Panda's up for going to Rubicon he doesn't have his phone with him today. I'm sorry guys about having to come back out can't chance sleeping in the cold with my Asthma

Its ok no worries. We need to find somewhere to eat that night for his birthday

What is the snow level on the trail? I saw somewhere that there is a foot of snow at Loon Lake and Wentworth trail heads. With possible ice under snow in some spots. Are you positive you want to fight the snow? You better be prepared. Bring camping gear just in case you need to keep warm. You never know what might happen at this time of year.

I have a message in with the ranger to find out 100%. I agree with camping gear and resources, I always bring my stuff just in case. If we make it to loon lake and the first few sections are snow covered we can always turn around prior to the first set of slabs so we don't make it too far without a backup. Personally, I am OK if we get there and just play for a bit in the snow and head out. My goal is not to do the entire trail just meet up for Panda's bday and have fun :thumb:

Who knows we may decide to just play on Ice House by where they do the High Sierra Poker Run. No need to push it.

Thanks for making sure we are not walking into it blindly :yup:

If theres a foot of snow it will be pretty nasty

Not necessarily...it depends on the snow. We were up in over 2 ft on Sunday and was perfectly fine. I'm ok with heading down if we decide to not go on the trail I'm ok with that too.

Worst case this becomes a Suds-n-Grub and we just hang out. :thumb:

Ya I say we meet at 8 and just go as far as we can. I drive in snow all the time im not worried about that. Snow, Rocks, and ice........... sounds like a good time. We can eat in placerville, I no there will be more options there. We will just do what we can

So we booked a room at the Gold Country Inn in Placerville. Not really the most "luxury" place but the price was cheap and they had a room with two queen beds. :thumb:
