Great job on your trailer! I picked up a homemade trailer this weekend and I want to modify the tent rack. Do you know the measurement from the ground to the top of the rack (or base of the tent)? Is it around 70” or so? Mine is currently 58” but I want to raise it some. I don’t want to make it too high to where the tent will be unstable but I would love to be able to use the annex like your build.

My rack sits at 72" & there is still plenty of room in the ladders with a CVT brand tent, I picked that height to match the annex room.

I did mine at 68” but raise it to about 6’ when leveling.

Damage report…
After getting home and taking a closer look at the trailer I found a little more wrong. After the wheel came off the hard landing tweaked the tent rack. Well the weight of the tent did. Some photos I’m posting were posted elsewhere, but putting them here for reference.

The plan as of now is to fix the gamble I was taking on the original setup. I knew I was running tires bigger the recommended, I had heavy offset rims and was running a spacer/adapter. All of that is going away. Just ordered two 33x10.5 BFG A/T , two 15X8 rims 5x4.5 lug and new spindles. I’ve stripped the trailer down to to straighten the tent rack and add in some gussets. The wife wants one more beach trip before the season is over.

That thing took a hell of a lick. I’m glad it didn’t come apart on the highway. Good luck getting her all buttoned up!

Ouch, on the upside your weld looks like it held damn well, just cracked below it. I would think a few triangle gussets would solve the issue?
