My own JK 'Big Brake' research:

I'm back with even more super-secret findings to share with you. Another two minutes of Internet searching has revealed even more to me. Yet another JK big brake kit is produced by Road Race Motorsports. You can buy a kit that uses stock size rotors that are slotted and drilled with better pads for all four corners or a kit with bigger discs all around.

SAE International-Introduction to Foundation Brake Design

Stop Tech-The Physics of Braking Systems

Hey look, you too can search for basic brake design information. Then afterwards, you too can post twenty summaries on you "findings" about the topic thus making yourself look smart and magnanimous. Feel free to donate your capitalist exploitation units (CEU) to me, I assure that I'll put them to use for the greater good. While you're at it comrade, don't forget to re-educate yourself by reporting to your nearest kommissar or reading my political blog. Comrade, if your willing to donate parts why not lend me your eyes for a few minutes. If Majik can pimp himself out, then so can I.

Boy the world needs more people like you around computeruser6. Majik was just trying to help people out that maybe wanted to do this on their own with out having to run a buy a complete kit. Once again Majik thanks for the time you did put into this.

sometimes subtle details like that are understandably missed.

Oh, I agree that sometimes details are missed. I can find no fault in such a statement. Let's look at some details then shall we? You posted the following on December 11, 2013:

Got all the pics taken. Just have to type it all up. Went great and gear pattern came out excellent, as far as I could tell. Honestly, anyone can do it. Just a few special tools needed and patience. Swapping shims back and forth to get it perfect is the time consuming part...it's not difficult. You just have to be persistent. Sorry for my crappy timeline... between kids, the brake project, and this, I just stretched myself a little thin. :sigh:

Pics are done, though (and ALOT of them...) and came out great. Will get to typing it up soon.

Months afterwards you had still not finished your ring and pinion writeup yet you continued to ramble on about brake system summaries. Are you simply : a real slow typist, don't actually know what you're talking about, enjoy teasing people, or just completely full of shit.

Again - the ones that said nothing throughout my research, not a word when I mentioned terrible family issues, but were the first to jump in and criticize, and with plenty of sarcasm and personal attacks.

That's funny, I feel like I've offered plenty of brake kit solutions and pointed out where to buy individual parts to build the kit your way. Some of us just choose not to write fifteen summaries on brake system design. Interestingly enough, the Road Race Motorsports kit that replaced all four corners was available in 2012. The Baer brake kit was available near the end of 2013. Both brake kits were easily found after about five minutes of Internet searches.

As in all communities, there are bad eggs.

That's a very astute observation. Do you mean like people who promise things, post teaser pics, give tips and yet still fail to put forth anything of real value?

I also ruined one brand new Reid Racing knuckle when I went out on a limb to have it machined, trying to find a solution, which didn't work out.

You had to machine a steering knuckle for this project? How is that part of a cheap, free, or easy solution? That makes no fucking sense.

Fourth, I never have tried to keep things a secret. I simply didn't want to throw a half-assed idea out there, have some of you start buying parts, and then run into a problem. I discussed many specific options early on that I eliminated, so I have been disclosing. I was trying to save people from wasting money (and instead only throwing away my own at times), and more importantly, performing an untested mod and possibly creating an unsafe condition for you and/or your family, or others on the road. I don't know why this became such a point that caused such repeated personal attack against me. I've never sought profit or personal gain and made that VERY clear from the first post.

You didn't keep secrets, but you refused to tell anyone what you actually did or disclose what parts you used. Did you think about that contradiction before typing it up? Something that might have helped this project out would be having other people actually involved and testing out what does and doesn't work. And if for whatever reason one is unable to finish said work another can continue forward. You would think that in a community that it would be better to involve the ideas and work of others. But I suppose that you just care about us so damn much and are so benevolent that you wouldn't want anyone (or trust anyone) else to spend their time on such a project. One of use lowly serfs might make a mistake and you just can't let that happen. Does that really make any sense? If the U.S. government could allow Oppenheimer in on the Manhattan Project perhaps you too could share your "work" with someone else?

Lastly, I never claimed to be an expert.

No shit Sherlock, you've already said that numerous times. Can you please stop flattering yourself now?

Yep, as computeruser6 found, a few other companies have since come out with a product to address our JK braking woes. I'm not a company. Much less a BRAKE PRODUCT company, whose sole purpose for existing is to produce braking products.

Another fine observation. Interestingly enough, there were many fine solutions that existed before your non-existent list of part numbers for a brake kit.

I only replied because I felt that a few have found a strange interest in attacking my character. My prior reply may have been blunt and offended some, and I apologize. I'm sure some of you, however, would understand how frustrating it feels when someone, especially someone you don't even know, takes the time to repeatedly attack your character or claims to know your intentions, and they are completely wrong. (can be applied to so much in life)

You made it pretty easy to attack your character. Besides, it's not as if that many people questioned or had any criticism of you. It's pretty hard to trust your stated intentions when you post up teaser pics and proclaim that you finished the project yet over a year later have still produced nothing of real value. It really just seems like you have contempt for those who wasted their time reading the threads you started just to find that you've brought no meaningful conlusion to anything. Everything you've done has about as much logic as a Michael Bay film. Speaking of illogical actions, contempt for the audience, and just generally not making any sense:

I feel it necessary to clarify a few things, and offer an apology to some

Majik, you don't owe anyone an apology. This is the damn internet. You will always have internet thugs that have nothing else to do but to sit at their keyboard and type away bashing others. You put in a lot of time and hard work to try to come up with a brake kit people could piece together from local part stores. You haven't finished it. So what? 98 out of 100 people out there that have read your thread appreciate what you've done and haven't said a word complaining that you haven't finished it, me being one of them. I just move on the to the next thread. Don't worry about it man.

Comuteruser6, damn I wish I had the time to waste that you do. It's the fucking internet dude. Who gives a shit?

I don't think anybody is being a "internet thug".

Appreciate what he's done? What exactly has he done for you? You've wasted two years on this thread and now will still have to buy a $1000 kit from a big name manufacturer. So what exactly has he done for you?

The song "what have you done for me lately" by Janet Jackson is going through my head now. Lol

He has given the idea that you do not have to always run out and buy a product. Some times the fun is sourcing and building a system. Sorry if you feel like that is a waste of time.

Yeah you're right. Don't run out and buy a product. Wait 2, 3, 5 years for his "research" to be complete.

I guess this is how you get your post count up, by stupid comments like this.

Don't like it? Don't read it. This thread is bogus, he will never finish the job and we all knew it months ago. Move along, definitely nothing to see here but two years of bogus pipe dreams and disappointments.

So I'm an "Internet thug" becuase I pointed out numerous inconsistencies in Majik's reasoning and the outright lie in his ring and pinion non-writeup? In spite of what you seem to believe, I spent very little time using the search function of this forum and Google. Nothing I referenced took that long to find. I certainly haven't spent as much time as Majik has writing brake system design summaries. Unlike Majik, I'm not sensitive to being called some names or having some jokes made about myself. Go ahead and call me a: bitch, fuckstick, dipshit, asshole, liar, thug, or whatever your favorite insult word is. Be as sarcastic as you like. Internet thug, what is this, Straight Outta Compton or something?

He has given the idea that you do not have to always run out and buy a product. Some times the fun is sourcing and building a system. Sorry if you feel like that is a waste of time.

So, that takes hundreds of rambling posts and numerous brake system summaries? Majik consistently refused to be open about what he was actually doing. Once again, machining a steering knuckle to get a brake kit to work doesn't sound like part of a free, cheap or convenient solution. Also, a smarter man might have downloaded a free brake template to verify wheel clearance instead of buying equipment that might not work. That's the whole reason brake companies give away such information for free, so you don't buy things that you can't use. That just makes too much sense I suppose, kind of like working with a community to reach a common goal rather than keep secrets for our own supposed benefit. I guess that trusting others to do some research and make our own conclusions like adults is simply "half-assed".

I guess this is how you get your post count up, by stupid comments like this.

Alright, what does count as legitimate criticism then? I've already pointed out several inconsistencies in Majik's logic and own words that no one has decided to counter. Well, I suppose that calling me an "Internet thug" and basically saying I'm mean with no rational explanation counts as reasonable criticism though. Why is it OK for Majik to claim that he's going to finish his ring and pinion non-writeup over a year ago but those of us who question Majik are assholes who don't believe that people can build a brake system their way? Do you have any rational explanation for such behavior? Is belief in Majik a religion or something? If you want to see an example of a stupid comment, I could shamelessly continue to promote my own blog on a bigger and much more successful website. I could also make big promises and then break my own word, but someone else has already done that.

Speaking of beliefs with no rational explanation:

:cheesy: for the love of god, is this thread really still going on??

Just think of this thread as a Five Year Plan.

There is yet another point that can be made here. Maybe Mikes Offroad will get it, maybe he won't. BUT, if you were to take the time and go back thru this thread and sift thru all the bullshit (I'm certainly not going to), you'll find many comments from people, perhaps enough you'd have to take your shoes off to count them all, saying something along the lines of them joining this forum because they happened to run across this thread during a Google search. I know because I too am one of them. All of those people , me included, have been disappointed over two years of empty promises and false hopes that this guy could somehow pull it off when in reality he's either not smart enough or just doesn't have the testicle fortitude to just man up and admit failure rather than dragging it out so long. Sorry, I'd rather buy a kit that I know for sure will work and work well than be prick teased for another two years by someone that has an issue finishing something they start.

Was I wrong? Look at the date dumbass. This thread was started two years ago and we are in the same spot now that we were then.

So stop reading the post if you see no benefit to it. Obviously you showed some interest in it to keep coming back and checking. I was able to build my rear XJ disc brake kit by following along with one that was built on a another site using Ford disc parts. I found it more fulfilling that running out and buying a kit of the internet. To each their own some like to see if they can built it and some just like to go and buy the flavor of the day. I agree with not realizing all the info before you know 100% that it will work. If he did and someone got hurt you guys would be the first criticizing him for releasing the info before making sure it would work out.

Dumbass is the best you could come up with, If I were you I would buy a kit as your not smart enough to build one on your own.

Here you go, DUMBASS...ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1422454235.784888.jpg

This is great all the smart people are coming out to play. Yes I can pull a wrench I have for years, I am just saying not everyone feels the need to buy everything. There is some satisfaction in building it and stepping back and admiring your work. If you are not one of them that's fine. Not sure how this makes me a Dumbass but I just have to look at where it's coming from. Have a great day by the way.

If you go back and read through this thread you'll see that even the first time I posted I called this guy out. Excuse me for not being impressed with his use of big words and picture taking ability. He gave you ZERO info on a big brake kit for the JK. I couldn't give two shits what you did to your YJ from another forum. We are talking about majik and his two years of hopes and dreams, much like Obama.

I could probably come up with a brake kit but don't feel the need with 35's or even with 37's.
