Once I get it on I'll decide how I'm going to do it. I would like it inside the tubes hidden. But easier zip tied on the outside.
I'm curious also. It's just me alone installing it. The instructions are similar to how I was going to do it.

Got the first coat of paint on the brackets. Got the carrier cleaned and a coat of primer to prevent any rust. Usually this should be fitted raw then painted afterwards, but I after I get the joints set I don't want to take everything apart again. So I'm going to paint the ends where the joints go first. Then after everything is set I'm going to tape off the joints and paint it with the joints on. Hope that makes sense.
I really like the finish of satin. I think from now on everything I'd going to get painted satin. Not too dull and not too shiny.:thumbup:

I just managed to get the two top brackets on today. Measured the distance between the two mounting holes and got the joints equal on both sides. Forgot I had to take out the gas tank door along with lights out. that added extra time. Once I get the bottom brackets on squared, I'll adjust the joints with some preload for the tire weight. Not sure how much yet. No pictures, got dark.

I'm with you on the satin, have used that finish on the wheel wells and to touch up the powder coating on my sliders and bumpers and always looks the best.
Your rig is looking great Marlo, can't wait to see that EVO carrier mounted up with those new 37's and slabs, forget how good the slabs look with the raw finished rings, :thumb:

Thanks, I think I'm going to leave them raw after all. Hopefully the carrier will be done soon. Just glad I got it before the snow came.

Spent all day yesterday wrestling this thing on and off. Two people would make life easier installing this carrier. Your better off doing corners and carrier at the same time. Scratched my corners pretty good, some touch up paint will fix that. Took it off again and going to paint today. Then get the spare on and see how much adjusting is needed. The bottom drivers side bracket bolts were a pain. All the others were easy. Just need to go buy some better bolts for the license plate today and figure out how to run the wires.

I gave up for today getting it aligned. I had it perfect before I put the tire on. The pins would just drop in. After the tire the bottom drivers pin moved forward. I moved the passenger bottom and fixed it, then the drivers top messed up. I just have to push a little.I think I just got frustrated. Maybe tomorrow I'll try again. Got the license plate on with some new hardware. Tomorrow tackle the 3rd brake light. Ran out of daylight.

Thanks, I'm pretty much done with the outside, I might get a poison spider hood thing to satisfy my hood envy of my wife's jeep. But now have to work on the mods nobody sees. Axles, gears, stuff like that.
Also get to start on my wife's jeep. Still trying to decide what to do with it.
Rubicat ran that setup for awhile until they got their pr44 for last years jkx.
