My Dozer

Some skid plate maintenance today, fixed the bolts with a sanding wheel. Trying to find m12x1.50x40 is a little tough.
One of the drawbacks of a stock height jeep is it's really low, aired down, 4 people and camping gear didn't help. I bent the part that covers the loop and was hitting the exhaust. Hammered out the section, managed to screw up the seam, welded, painted and good as new. These skids can take a beating.
Tire carrier is finally ordered. And should be here in a few days.

and yes i suck at welding. i doubt evo is going to call me anytime soon to weld for them. i can do a decent bead, but i get impatient and get sloppy. it's something that has to be practiced alot.

I also put on a drive shaft. Kind of went against my own advice, but I have a plan.
Edit. Actually I don't have a plan. Well, maybe 3 plans.
Plans
Plan A- don't spend money on gears, axle shafts and save for pr44/60 already geared, arb lockers, axle shafts and ready to bolt on. Don't spend money twice. Wasn't sure if drive shafts were the same length for a front pr44. Get axles with 1350 yolks and upgrade all at the same time.

Plan B- get gears and axle shafts, run factory stuff for as long as I can. The rear axle scares me more than the front, 2012 have been known to spin the diff due to poor plug welds. Later get the pr44 that uses the factory front locker. Pray the rear holds up. Upgrade to a 1350 front shaft. Upgrade to a pr60 if the rear ever screws up.

Plan C quit being a wimp and acting like I wheel hard. I'll be fine with factory stuff. Fix stuff only if it breaks. Stick with the 1330

Brown Santa is on his way today. Is that really the weight of the evo tire carrier?
I was just thinking, next month is is "black Friday". That usually means 20% off at Northridge. If so, I think I might get the rock hard cage.

dang that does look heavy!

if it is i say you get it! i will prob be looking at a new front driveshaft or 3" plush rides if it is 20% off. most likely the former
 
Took out to check articulation, did pretty good. Might be able to fine tune some stuff, need to trim a little more in the rear. I completely forgot to move my evap skid over before, it was on my list. But I forgot and tore the boot off the rear shaft. Was going to test more, but got pissed off and left. Oh well..

Nice shots, too bad about the rear boot. On a good note tho, thanks for reminding to to move my canister lol

lol, yeah I'm glad to help:doh:, guess a rear shaft might come sooner than i thought. going to trim here in a bit and retest on the poor mans rti ramp. wish i had a fork lift handy.
 
The Dozer is looking awesome! Good luck installing the rear carrier. Are you going to do a write-up on that?

i don't know, i haven't seen any directions, but i think i got it figured out. evo gives you a starter hole on the drivers side to base all other measurements off of. my guess is install the top drivers side bracket, i'm thinking transferring the measurement from the hardtop seam to the top of the bracket to the top passenger side. the bottom brackets should bolt on where they land. i'm probably way off, but i'll see when it comes in. i have to go to work tonight so hopefully this weekend.

Sounds like you have a great start!
FYI, you can call EVO and they will email you a copy of the directions. Makes it much easier to read and see the pictures in color vs the paper directions. :thumbup:

Thanks, looking at the picture, it hit the gas tank skid also. If I would have just went forward it wouldn't have tore, but like a dummy I heard a noise and backed up. It got caught in the lip of the skid. The axle shifts quite a bit.

Man I didnt know the rear could shift that much when articulating. What are you going to have to do to fix it? Trim the gas tank skid as well?
