Musty Smell in AC

Hopefully someone here can give me guidance on this.

Every time that I turn on my AC currently, I get this very musty smell coming out of the vents. It almost smells moldy. Has anyone else had this happen?

I've had it on various vehicles.

Take out cabin air filter, buy some AC condenser cleaner and spray it down in the filter hole.
They make stuff specifically for automotive, it foams up.

My little beater commuter gets this.

Change the cabin air filter. Also open up the vehicle on a sunny day and let it air out.

In addition to what’s been said, I’ve run the AC with high heat to dry things up as well.

Another thing that helps on some vehicles, switch from recirc to vent before you shut it off. It opens things up while the vehicle sits. Especially if there's evap condensation sitting in the box under the dash.

I've noticed the new AC formula of the JL/JT gets stanky more often than any other Jeep or vehicle I've had.
even doing all the above it still gets stanky..
I use A/C Pro Vent And Duct Cleaner I get at O'Reilly autoparts , easy to use, gets the stank out for about 5-6 months

Another thing you can try is to have a broken mixer motor where it doesn’t fully close for recirc. Lmao
