MOTECH Medical Help for MOBY

I looked into the LS3/L86 swap but it seemed that there were still a few things that needed worked out at the time.
I drive "Kitty" when I go on trips. I certainly don't want to have to deal with a break down that no-one else can work on while on the road 3000 miles from home.

I might have to do a follow up with Robbie and see how it's streamlined in the last 6 months.
I'm guessing the price should have gone down now that it takes days instead of weeks?

Curious, our 2008 JKUR was done in Oct last year, never had a problem with it since. It's now getting the MoCan which should make it more awesome. Plus I fail to see how it can't be worked on, it's a standard Chevy Camaro in just about all ways and any tech can just plug in to see what the issues might be. In fact, you can just go into a Chevy dealer and get 2012 Camaro parts for just about anything engine related, Pretty much same for the 6L80.

I really think you should see what Robbie is doing/has done. I would say maybe a couple of years ago, your thoughts might be valid, but last time I checked he was cranking out over 40 a year, with one of the absolutely best reputations for any LS swap house (IMHO).

This is good to hear. I am saving for a V8 for my 07 JKU and really leaning towards an LS. Reliability is an important thing to me. The stock 3.8 may be a dog on the freeway but it has yet to leave me stranded ( knock on wood here). I know mechanical failures are always a possibility but I'd like to have similar reliability with a new engine to what I have now, especially after paying all that money.

Moby has one of the first kits and with the exception of the recent problems he had, we've been running trouble free since we got it installed over 4 years ago. Of course, the new kit is amazingly factory like and I would highly recommend you give it another look. Being that a lot of the cost is labor, the new setup should be a lot more affordable and even more so if you can do the work yourself.

I would love to do a swap like this after my 3.8L. I was looking at the kits on MOTECH and it doesn't look like you can keep a manual transmission, is that right? Didn't Moby used to have a 6-speed manual?

Yes, Moby had a 6-speed manual transmission before the swap. I think you can do a manual but I don't know that for sure.

Congrats on getting him back!

If your second picture was from a horror movie (like Christine), it looks like Moby is just waiting to start his engine and drive over you guys in the truck ;0)

I hope the drive home was uneventful!
