MEGA DRIVE 2025

A review of my drive from Hanford to Carson City.

The 392 drove awesome. The wider and firmer tires along with the stiffer springs provided great handling on the curvy mountain roads. Make no mistake it’s still a Jeep with a high center of gravity but there is a noticeable improvement in the handling and the ‘mushy’ roll is gone. The ride is firm and smooth and it feels more like a Jeep should IMHO. So far I am impressed with the Nitto Ridge Grapplers and they appear to be a great choice for this application. I am very happy with this set up.

While I did not get aggressive on the skinny pedal due to the gear break in, the acceleration is equal to or even surpasses what it was with the factory 33-inch tires and 3.73 gears. Getting bigger tires and more acceleration is like free money. 😁

I do not have the official fuel mileage numbers yet but the total ‘range remaining’ numbers displayed on the dash seem approximately what they were before the swap. I’ll get exact figures tomorrow when I fuel up. Even if I lose mpg I’ll still be super happy with this set up.

The route over the mountains was beautiful and exposed me to a whole new area that we need to explore. Thanks Eddie!

Once we get relocated to Carson City we will definitely sneak over the border and partake in multiple NORCAL explorations and adventures.
