If you can legally get by without a cat, then yes, I would say reprogram to ignore the o2. Your upstream sensor will serve as the PCM input to the air/fuel ratio based on your combustion byproduct and the downstream sensor will serve only to tell the pcm that the cat is working or not. If you leave both there with no cat, it will trip the engine light. I helped a friend build an offroad vehicle out of a pickup that he didn't drive on the road anymore, and we had to removed cat (again, this was legal and for offroad use and no longer used on the street), and we actually left the upstream cat plugged in like normal, but we tied the downstream one off to the side where it was exposed to normal fresh air. It actually worked, he never had an engine light come on and it ran fine.
 
Thanks WJCO, small delay here, Novak just informed me that the adapter plate is back ordered. They are going to get back to me when the parts guy is out of a meeting but this could really screw everything up. I was hoping to be done in three weeks and now it looks like I'll be riding my motorcycle into snow season.

That's pretty sneaky...I like it. I was having some downstream O2 sensor issues that were throwing engine codes awhile back...but the good news was that it led to a retune of my engine as it was running too rich and now it never ran better and increased mpg as well...
 
It's been a while. Lost motivation for a while and just let it sit. Pictures were too big so I have to go through Tapatalk which I hate doing. I got the other motor mount off. Then just for you guys I hoisted the motor up and test fit it without mounts yet. I have to say I got pretty excited when it was in place. Some finishing for for today until I get back later, I got the Novak adapter plate on which took close to an hour because the alignment pins weren't working right. Nothing a BFH wouldn't fix. MmHmm, I understood some of those words.
 
Well small delay. After counting the flywheel I noticed what appeared to be a defect in the build. The actual plate had some separation from the backer plate with the ring gear. Sent some photos to Jeff at Novak and he agreed with me and sent a fresh one out.

I got the new flywheel in yesterday. The guys at Novak were great at getting this shipped out and making my wait time less. Got it mounted and the clutch system installed. Then I got the studs set for the bell housing and made sure they were all straight. I ended the night with a fun mod.
