Prolly to keep the same wheelbase and frame to the rear axles. Add an extension where it ends to accomodate the longer truck bed.

Moving the rear axle forward is also a good way to keep weight off the front axle. Just saying.

If the rear door is the same as the JK it looks like it is already moved back a bit...
