Lane87's Build

is it okay to run a 13.50 wide tire on an 8 inch rim?

i know eddie told me that it is ok to run the 12.50 on my 8 inch rim cause it will hold the bead when aired down. im sure with a 13.50 it MIGHT be ok but not 100% positive on that. maybe a 8.5 or 9 would be better

I would look on craigslist for some oem 17s....you can usually find a full set of them for cheap....if i didnt have to keep my set id let you have them if i sell the tires

I'll have to buy wheel spacers too then though. I think I'm just going to stick with my 15s and run 35s..

quadratech has a deal right now buy 4 procomp steelies and get the 5th free....which is what I may be doing

What do you guys think about the General Grabber red letter? they're so cheap!
$193.00 EACH IS NICE but I didnt like this part of the description.
While Off-Road Maximum Traction tires are branded with the M+S symbol and able to churn through deep snow, their typical oversize applications and the absence of snow-biting sipes in their large smooth lugs can challenge their on-road wintertime traction on packed snow and icy surfaces.

I'm not too worried about snow, I'm a very good winter driver. I'm more concerned about the off-road quality especially now that my wife has a car..

tread pattern looks good on those, I think a few sema builds used them, not like that gives any usable info lol, but im sure they would be good, did you dig around in the wheel and tire section? i think someone asked about them before.

Yeah, I've read good things about them just wanted you're guy's opinions. I think i would put the red letters on the inside... I think it would look kind of cheesy to have red letters out on a red jeep..

just be careful since I keep reading they are very heavy, what are you thinking for a tire carrier? and lemme know if you want me to install some guessets for you.

Thanks! I'm definitely going to do the evo gussets. as far as the tire carrier goes I haven't decided yet.. I'd like to get the Genright but I might just throw the spare in the back or run it on the stock carrier until that breaks.. or i can afford it.. which ever comes first..

I think i can handle those, just not sure about welding around the top where the ball joints are, with the terafelx ones i was fine without removing them I just took my time

I wouldn't be apposed to removing the ball joints, I'd like to inspect them anyway..

From the looks of the picture they're just welded on the sides and not across the top..

If I save $152.60 a month I can afford the Toyos in time for EJS in Moab.. lol

will the 13.50 be okay on an 8 inch wide rim?

What kind of wheels? More than likely you'll need wheel spacers. 13.5 is really wide and won't work unless you've got some good back spacing and or spacers.

agreed, my stock wheels with 1.5" spacers and 12.50" nittos leave JUST enough room for full turn without rubbing. But not too many after market wheels have that bad of backspacing like the stock wheels
