KP's JKUR Build

I'm curious where you ordered the rear bumper/tire carrier from?

I order most of my parts from my parts guy, let's call him Mr. K, at 4wd.com. The bumper came out of a 4wd.com warehouse, but the tire carrier was drop shipped directly from ARB's facility in Washington state as soon as they got one in stock according to the ARB rep I spoke with.

Just got off the phone with my parts guy. As it turns out, my ARB kit was missing more than a few parts. Not just the usual nuts/bolts that I can pick up down the street, but the kit is supposed to come with 2 turnbuckles to hold the tire in place with no squeaking, another support arm, a new updated tailgate bracket, and a few grommets. The missing parts are being mailed out today, so I'm crossing my fingers for a Monday night install. With this fix, I'm hoping my carrier will be ready to roll (& not rattle!) for RC next weekend.

I tried to tweak and tighten everything over the weekend as it currently sits, but no dice. :banghead: Those squeeking noises coming from the tire carrier are driving me mildly insane... :furious3::gaah::crazy_eyes: Really hoping my missing ARB parts get delivered today and that'll be the end of it.

Another parts delivery from ARB. Why they are sending me parts that are for a YJ/TJ is just beyond me. Parts not included, the 3 bolts the actual tire mounts to. Yay.

Missing bracket #1 installed, missing grommets installed too. There's a shiny new M8 bolt at the 4 o'clock position to replace the OEM one that couldn't take it any more and committed bolticide. For future reference, the TeraFlex CB antenna mount doesn't play nicely with the new bracket, but you can remedy that with a handful of washers pressed in as spacers.

Yeah, this stopped being fun 10 or so labor hours ago. Now it's just funny! The latest casualty, my third brake light. This one was totally my fault since I left it laying on the ground when I made a parts run for new bolts. The CRUNCH echoed through the entire garage!

This is a fantastic, easy reading, sometimes entertaining, write up on one very neat build.

Love all the photos of the progress, as well as the detailing of your thought processes when deciding on mods.

My Rubicon is just over a month old, and like you, I'm slowly (maybe some might think quickly) adding bits and pieces as they turn up, many of which were ordered before I even took delivery of the Jeep.

I appreciate the effort you have put into describing and displaying all your additions, and I look forward to more update as they happen.

Great build will be following this one sent you a pm as well

Thanks NoPulp! Hope I got all your questions answered via PM, if you have any more don't be shy.

Thanks Adventurer! I'm glad you are enjoying the posts and if I ever finish with this tire carrier head ache, I'll get back to writing about some new products. You know ever since my JKUR came home, the wife thought I was barreling through the upgrades a bit too quickly as well. I keep telling her "hey, it's still stock height isn't it??" I'm worried she might sprain her eye balls with all the eye rolling she does at me & the Jeep!

I know the feeling, compared to my current JK build, a slow progression over a couple years, the new build is going to go very very quickly. In addition to all the stuff I pulled off my 2010, I've got new stuff arriving daily. Garage is getting to the point where it is getting difficult to walk around my JK. If my Gobi rack arrives before the 13 JK, I'm going to have a serious problem! haha

My 13 is arriving any day now, can hardly wait!! Tired of tearing the old one apart, want to start building the new one! I'll have to do a build thread as well, although you have set the bar pretty high here!

First thing I will be doing before the lift goes on, mostly to save my back, is installing the MORE dual battery tray which is something I know you mentioned you were thinking about as well.

Looking forward to the next installment!

Tire carrier reinstall complete after another run to Hone Depot for missing bolts. Everything is tightened to spec and the squeak test is coming soon. My fabricator friend took a look at the carrier and noticed one of the problems I was having could be attributed to one of the brackets had been welded upside down before it went to powder coating. What?!?

I hope you are right b/c I'm more than ready to move on to my next project on the Jeep!

Digital Stickers

Depending on your concept of a mod, I guess this counts. I was bored a few weeks ago and decided I really liked the WAL logos. And I do have this fancy snazzy touch screen in the Jeep just sitting there and collecting dust...

If you want this in your rig too, simply go my NAV Wallpaper Album using the link, select the picture you want, right click and select 'save image as' to save it to your flash drive. Not sure how to load wallpaper onto your 430N? I've got your covered on that too. Just click 'How does I NAV Wallpaper?'

I know, I know, I created a NAV wallpaper thread when I did this that's now buried in the 'Show Off Pics', but I wanted it on my build thread too. :D
