JKHR - Black JK Build Thread #3

Made a little more progress today. I moved the vacuum pump to the engine bay, removed the crashbar, and cleaned up the frame rails. Adjustments.jpg

Looks good. Do you have to take the crash bar off for the new bumper?

Yeah, the winch tray sits firmly between the frame rails so the brackets were in the way. The D-ring mount slides through the frame rails and a bolt goes through the interior section of where the crashbar bracket was.

To match my EVO Rock Star Skids, I took some 2.5” front shock extensions and cut them down to 1.5”.

To keep my shocks from bottoming out, I pieced together 1.5” worth of hockey pucks for bumpstops.

So since I’m on a tight budget, my suspension is going to consist of 1” coil spacers, 1.5” shock extensions, and 1.5” bumpstops.

That’s pretty smart, I wouldn’t have thought to do that.

Pretty cold out today so just tinkered with the front bumpstops today. Hopefully I’ll at least get the front brake lines pulled from the stock bracket, shock extensions in, and bumpstops mounted tomorrow.

Pretty crappy day so so just tinkered with my winch plate. I didn’t like how far it set back so I moved the mounting holes forward an inch. I tend to measure once, cut twice thus the two unsightly holes...

Installed my front bumper today. Lots of cutting and drilling. Thankfully I measured correctly. The winch is dead nuts up against the grill and as far forward on the winch plate as possible.

Looks great! I love that you actually took a picture of the frame horns cut off. Most people avoid those pictures. I couldn’t bring myself to cut the frame horns lol

Thanks. They came off much easier than the crashbar oddly enough. I am keeping them in my garage just in case...
