JK-Experience 2012

Beadlocks?

Just dropped cage at paint shop today and the new sliders need welded on. Those are the two "big" items I have left. Hopefully the cage will be in next weekend...trying to talk Sharkey into giving me a hand again. :thumb: Then a bunch of little stuff I'll have to sneak in at night after work.

Yep beadlocks....

Nice! I toyed with the idea and just couldn't justify them...yet. You guys figure out your route and travel days yet?

Well we've had these for a couple years ...always knew next time we got new tires it was going to be a pain.

Plan is to leave on the 29th. Thinking we'll go thru Phoenix on the way out and camp in Sedona first nite then head across the 40 for the next 3 days.

LOL - you'd have to fight off our teen daughters for a chance to have your party there! They probably are already planning it!

Um, I'm guessing this will not have the deterrent effect you were going for? :)

A bit off topic but Greg (GCM 2) do you happen to know if the cargo rack would allow for an ARB frige under it? We absolutely love our Tuffy Deck but I really really would love to have the ARB Frige in the cargo area under the deck or something like you're running.

Frank, I know it will not fit under my Kilby rack. The ARB is just too tall, even without the sliding mount being used. I borrowed a buddies set up to use as a mock up, and see where/how I could mount the slide and fridge or just the fridge. It always came down to the best place being out back by the tailgate where I think 99% of people run them. On the trail I usually have only a front seat passenger at a maximum, my rear seats stay folded. I contemplated trying the slide mount on top of the rear passenger when folded so it could slide out the door. Did not work unless you took the door limit strap off to get the rear passenger door folded back completely. I can't speak for products like the Tuffy security deck, it may sit higher. Maybe Eddie will chime in, I think I remember seeing an ARB in Moby. He may have accomplished something you could do or has seen it while he was overlanding ;)

I think it will depend on what size ARB cooler you have. That said, I've seen Rubicat with it mounted in the back seat. I've also seen it mounted on top of the security deck on either Moby or Rubicat (I think). This coming from the guy that does not own one in any size. :(

Yeah both those are the only options we have. The rear seat is the best we can do but with 3 kids not always an option. Setting on top of the tuffey is 2nd choice... Need a freakin ladder to get in the thing (or a bumper to stand on which we lack) and can't open the lid very much if you have the top on.

Brenda, that's the exact reason why I did not mount the ARB fridge (I was borrowing) on my rear cargo rack. It would have only worked with no top on trying to access the goods. Maybe you guys could just ratchet strap it behind the driver's seat, and then at least the passenger might be able to access it while underway :idontknow:

Dynomax comp exhaust, rear muffler delete, cut the tub, fab up a compartment where your muffler used to be so the fridge sits in there. ;)

Yep that's how we've been running it when we don't have to take the kids

Holy cow, just 2 weeks to the day!!

Been working on getting Moby ready for this trip, will be taking him in to EVO tomorrow to get our new tires installed, just booked a flight to have our cameraman Andrew flown out and have started planning a route out to Indiana!!

For those of you who are interested, we'll be heading up to Vegas on Tuesday the 28th so that we can drop off Tessa with the in-laws and then will be heading out first thing Wednesday morning. We will be dropping down to Kingman, AZ and will take I-40 east from there. We haven't hammered out all the specifics yet but, the tennative plan is to stay the night in or around Albuquerqe on Wednesday, in or around Oklahoma City on Thursday, St. Louis on Friday (will pick up Andrew there) and then pull into Terre Haute early on Saturday morning. We'll use the extra day to shine Moby up and do any last minute adjustments.

As of now, I believe that MTG and Moochie will be joining us on our trip out and, if you're coming from out west and would like to caravan with us, we'd love to have you join us

@wol what tires are you putting on moby?
You guys are going to have so much fun, can't wait to watch the video.

Yep, Eddie is tired of those Toyos......I heard he is going with Interco Super Swampers TSL-SX ;)

Could you see how ridiculous that would look :icon_crazy: Eddie and Cindy would either have to wear hearing protection or would just go deaf from the tire noise!

Yes, I have had more than a few people tell me that my Jeep looks ridiculous with the Swampers - not sure if that is a compliment or not. They are pretty loud on the highway, but I'm half-deaf anyway.

Swampers on Moby, yes ridiculous. I had the TSL-SX on my CJ5 and Boggers on my TJ, great off road tires, ridiculous daily driver tires. Never again :icon_crazy:
