JK-Experience 2012

I just saw that on Facebook. Those front fenders are gorgeous! Too bad they aren't available like that anymore. I'm yanking off my LoD front stinger bumper to put on the Evo stinger and 1/4 pounder bumper later this month once I get the tire carrier here. A set of those fenders would really finish it off.

Your LoD is actually a great bumper, in fact had EVO mfg not started making this 1/4 pounder with stinger, the LoD stubby with stinger is what would grace my frame horns. Once I saw the 1/4 pounder on Mel Wade's rig, I decided to wait when he said they were going to produce them. As for the fenders Mel passed on to me, that came up in a conversation well over a year ago when I asked if he would build me a set just like the ones he was running at the time on EVO1. He said to wait, he was taking them off to run something different for King of the Hammers, and we all know of the one piece fender/hood combo he runs now. Well, I am just now getting around to having the EVO1 takeoffs installed (I have been a little busy ;) )

Greg your rig is bad ass I can't wait to see it finished! Are you still keeping your tire carrier or you changing it out too? I have to know haha

Ray, at the moment I still run no tire carrier or even a tailgate. I'm still doing the Baja pre runner thing with tire strapped in the cargo area with a PSC tire three way ratchet strap. It's going to make my JKX gear packing interesting. Eventually I will do the rear EVO armor, and maybe the EVO tire carrier. I am working on a design that is a variation of the EVO carrier, but it's hard to improve on perfection.

Awesome, sounds like your gonna make it your own! That's the best way to do it, I can't wait to see what you creat later on!

Edit: I can just see the hint of the Stinger I had added to my EVO 1/4 pounder front bumper.

Looks like its time for a new avatar! ;)

Honestly, your rig is one of the best looking jeeps I've seen. BTW--did you ever get the drool off of it from Moab? :cheesy:

Agreed. It was one or the other for me. Unless I had money to burn, I'd just keep it.

As I sit here on the other side of the planet living vicariously through all of these off roading post, Off Road Evolution is turning wrenches on my EVO built rig! Mel just posted this photo on ORE's Facebook wall, I have graciously inherited the old front fenders/quarter armor off EVO1. Hand-me downs off EVO1 are never a bad thing, I am so digging these fenders. I guess the EVO rock skins and sliders are getting mounted next :) Look out JKX 2012

First of Greg thank you for the work you do for our country. Secondly, as if your rig couldn't get any sweeter! Crap man that thing looks sweet! I saw it a few weeks back sitting outside of ORE and wondered what you had in the works. Very nice! What axles are you running btw?

Frank and I were actually taking about doing something similar with our spare tire for this trip but decided packing would be too much of a challenge  and we want to be able to use the Tuffy Security deck-- so we are sticking with the no bumper/ORFab carrier and EVO armor combo we got going for now.

Haha! I'm sure JKX 2012 will provide my next one. The one I have now was taken by Luai Alsheheli (Lo2aY from JK Forum) during the JKX weekender Scottsdale to Sedona run

Thanks brother! It's basically an ongoing clone of the ever so sweet and badass EVO1 and Moby! And just like Eddie and Mel's rig I run the best Dana 60's available, Dynatrac ProRock 60's. I had Curries on another vehicle and they were problematic.

I hear ya Blonda, but I am a huge minimalist! I would never suggest to anyone to run my current spare tire setup, it is pretty extreme. I do have a really nice rear cargo rack that I should probably put back in, but if I needed to access my spare the way I am running it now I would have to unbolt the rack. Here's a photo of the rack I run on occasion, sort of the same concept of your security deck.

Greg I saw that and I thought it was your rig. Looking good brother.

wow, we did about that in 5 weeks and was beat - this will all be done in a little over 1 week

Me and My family just got back from a 3 week 6500 mile trip from WV to do the rubicon. It could not of been a better trip in the jk. A friend is taking me on the JKX and it is only 8 hours from WV. I was so scared it would be on the west coast after that trip. Can't wait, see you all there.

21 days until the 1st drivers meeting and tech inspection! I hope the JK's are getting modded and the drivers and co-drivers are well prepared for the event ;)

oh man, it really is coming up in a real hurry

is it safe to assume you're getting a set of koh trail grapplers installed? i so wanted to go that route but, we're running 20's. :rolleyes2:

Eddie, as much as I would pay that price in cash for some KOH spec rubber, there has been a turn of events for the EVOJEEP, you will probably even see it before I do. I don't get to the shop until the 30th to pick it up. Let's just say Mel has done a few extra, completely unexpected things for me on the rig. Nothing crazy, but I was truly honored by what has taken place. My lips are sealed until I actually get to see it, I don't want to jinx anything. Hell, I may have said too much

You got the EVO1 KOH Spec hand me downs along with the EVO1 hand me down fenders?

Haha! I have seen Mel's tires and you would be better off buying some new rubber than taking his hand me down tires off EVO1! As much as I dig that KOH spec race tire, my jeep is a daily driver and it would be a waste of a great race tire to wear out in about 2000 miles of street driving. It is a seriously soft rubber compound, push your thumbnail into and it leaves a depression for a second or two :icon_crazy:

Yeah. Those were a real slice! Seems like I still have a bunch to finish before JKX. :(

We just need to get the rest of our new Nittos on (1 done so far), replace front brakes, inspect rear axle and get an oil change and the Jeep will be ready... But we still have a lot to do ourselves to get ready--yikes!

Beadlocks?

Just dropped cage at paint shop today and the new sliders need welded on. Those are the two "big" items I have left. Hopefully the cage will be in next weekend...trying to talk Sharkey into giving me a hand again. :thumb: Then a bunch of little stuff I'll have to sneak in at night after work.
