Is the load range the same for the two? If one has a stiffer sidewall, perhaps it's supporting the full load at a greater overall diameter? What about air pressure? Identical air pressure in each tire?

ok so i can see on a trail grappler where it is different. for the Mud grappler its hard since they dont list a 315 in a 17" rim

one thing i did notice tho is that a 315 on a 16" rim is bigger than a 315 and a 35" on a 17" rim.
By a 0.12 of an inch, but out on the trail you are likely to loose more height while deflating at the same psi since your tires have taller sidewalls
If I'm not mistaken and please correct me if I'm wrong, the mud also have deeper tread by 1/32" that would make up the difference.

That could be why my Jeep appeared higher than yours last time at Rausch Steve. We were both aired down and I didn't even think about you having more sidwall it flexes a lot more than mine.
when you compare the 35/12.5r17 's between the two they both have the same tread depth of 21.
when comparing the 315/75r16's the muds are 21.7 and the trails are 20 so yea there is a little difference.
I'm getting tired of this snow lol. i was thinking of not going off road until spring.Ill be there this saturday with maybe 7 guys. 3-6 inches of snow expected tomorrow.
Dont worry it will be spring by the time that dealer gives you back your jeep.
