Hurricane Milton

Figured it’s own thread would be good since I’m sure there will be more posts to come.

Florida is already getting hammered by rain before the hurricane even makes landfall. Seems to be another tropical depression on the east coast of FL. Best of luck to anyone staying in Florida! My parents and brother are sticking it out in Sarasota. They dropped a bunch of trees near their properties ahead of time.

Yeah, when they develop in Caribbean or the Gulf, they seem to be some ugly Mothers.

Glad my Mom moved back north in 2018, because of a nasty one in 2017.
I moved out of Florida in 2018, Irma came in September 2017. We boarded up the shit out of houses even wedged 4x4 posts between the cars and the garage doors to keep pressure against them.

My mom is in Lakeland and I can't get her to take it seriously. I don't know if she is going through some kind of breakdown or if she really thinks it's no big deal!
We moved out of Florida just before the hurricanes that struck in 2004 (complete coincidence). She isn't interested in moving.

Biden says that the storm surge may be 15 feet and that the storm may still be at hurricane strength when it exits Florida.

Or how about we don't do stick built homes in these areas? Tornado alley included? It's retarded to keep building shit the same way only for it to get blown down over and over. How about reinforced concrete structures or domes or something better than just a lumber structure
Funny how in tornado prone areas, water towers are designed to be aerodynamic and to withstand the forces of wind it would encounter but people are still allowed to live in mobile homes below it 🤪
