Angled ones. Wanted the step for the wife. Heck, even for myself it'll be nice once on 37s.

Made some progress on the sliders tonight.

The painting space. It's about 20° outside so I'm creating a smaller space with a heater on it to keep them warm while I paint. Also confines the spray paint from hitting other things.
IMG_20161214_152644.jpg

Brought them inside to do the prep work and warm up the metal since they had been in the garage.
IMG_20161214_154631.jpg

Wiping them down with mineral oil. Got tons of grease and dirt off of them.
IMG_20161214_155633.jpg

Wetting the sandpaper
IMG_20161214_161858.jpg

Sanding them down
IMG_20161214_162248.jpg

Warming by the fire. Wanted the metal warm to the touch before taking them in the garage.
IMG_20161214_165143.jpg

Hung up and ready for priming
IMG_20161214_175411.jpg

That's a nice prime job if I may say so
IMG_20161214_180848.jpg

Letting them dry for 3-4 hours
IMG_20161214_193926.jpg

Taking some more 400 grit to them
IMG_20161214_222502.jpg

After the Rustoleum truck bed liner is put on them
IMG_20161214_235647.jpg

I'll touch them up tomorrow but this gives enough time for a full cure before Trail Jeeps welds them on this Friday. Can't wait!

Took over the dining room like a BOSS! Nicely done sir! Isn't it great having your significant other be sympathetic to your jeep-needs?! [emoji6] The paintjob turned out great considering the weather you're having. You are gonna love the sliders!

Nice work! :thumb:

Looks good. That's a dining room should look, full of Jeep parts. :thumb:

Good stuff! Way to take over that dining room table lol

Nice work. Can't wait to see them installed.

Thanks guys! Yes, very cool of my wife to let the dining room table be "multi-purpose". The paint job turned out great. I head into Trail Jeeps tomorrow morning. Still need to remove Rubi sliders and sand the frame down to metal to prep it for them.

I'm not sure if you would have the time, or place to do it but if you paint the pinch-seams with the holes in them where the Rubi sliders were, they completely disappear behind the EVO's. It's worth the extra effort if you can do it.

Yeah, I considered it. Still may try. Thinking the Granite Crystal color is dark enough it won't make much of a difference though. Thoughts?

I think it's just a personal preference thing. I was afraid I'd fixate on the holes in the seam too much because that's all I could see was the ground through the holes for the week I drove mine around completely slider-less. Once my EVO's were on though that's where my eyes stopped. On a side note: it's cool how much confidence the new sliders bring. Even in mundane weekday traffic, just knowing that there are crazy-strong sliders under the doors, it's like, "sure bra, rub your little car on these bad-boys, now give me some f-ing room!".

Ha, that's awesome. Yeah, part of the reason we got them right now was because we're expecting our second kid. That means one of them will be in a car seat right next to the door, which doesn't offer a whole lot of side impact protection. Now I got these bad boys like a steel crib around my family.

Dog children are great. We have a Golden. And yes, already scheming on how to get the RockHard roll cage. Probably not happening till next Black Friday though. Need to get on 37s first.

Lookin' good! The only thing I don't like about my sliders is getting in & out of the Jeep when the weather is shitty out like now. The back of my pants cleans the sliders real nice if I'm not careful. :rolleyes2:

I've heard that from someone else too. Probably more of an issue with the angled ones that I got, but maybe I can just get in the habit of using them to step out as well.

Exactly, if used as a step you wont have an issue, except them being slippery. I played with the notion of putting that grip tape on the areas you would likely step on getting in & out. Never bothered on mine but may help on the low angle versions.

Yeah, thought about it. The truck bed liner is already pretty grippy so I'm hoping that will work well. If not, not sure what next steps are. It's not smooth, so I don't think the 3M tape would adhere that well to it. I'll post updates here with my thoughts once they're mounted up.
