Going to a Long Arm.. What can I expect?

I dont know if I would go as far as calling it deceptive. There are legal definitions of Made vs Assembled - they are using the one that applies to them.

OP is having a hard time understanding that Made and Assembled are two different things.

Well, TF didn’t say “assembled” in the US. They said “built.” I think they are trying to dupe people into thinking that means “made.” From this thread, we know it worked at least once.

I completely understand how that works and just because it is ILLEGAL doesn't mean manufacturers don't skirt it.. I do not need an education in this department trust me.. Can you prove that my axle is not made in the USA?

Damn dude!!! It's obvious you are here to start shit.. Question asked and answered. Make a fool of yourself someplace else. I don't post much on the forum but I do read a lot of it. And you are annoying the hell out of me. So move the fuck along...

Terraflex is awesome!!!! You can't get a better, more complete kit for the money. Plus with terraflex your components will always be in a newish state from the cycle of brake and replace [emoji23]. Go for it. Buy the kit and run the shit out of it. Keep us all updated how happy you are with it, and make sure to spread the love to the other forums as well. I would sure hate for some uninformed person to accidentally buy a superior product just because they took everyone here's word for it [emoji849]

Just because you don't like me posting up FACTS about TeraFlex and backing them up with PHOTOS for proof doesn't mean I "hate" them. I do find their deceptive marketing shameful and enough so that I've chosen to no longer do business with them but really, that's a far cry from "hatred".

Wow, 5 Wranglers and you've learned absolutely nothing - impressive. :spock:

AGAIN, buy the TeraFlex kit that you've been sold on. Not like I care and as you were told, "it's the best thing since sliced bread". I've got nothing on that. :yup:

Actually, any long arm kit will correct the suspension geometry when lifted 4" or higher and that will help improve your ride on pavement. Flex will always be limited by shock length - NOT arm length. Believe what you want but big flex on TeraFlex long arms WILL blow out bushings. Don't believe me, fast forward to 5:44 on this video.

:yawn37:

Funny how on TeraFlex's website, "100% engineered, designed, and built in the USA" is just a footnote.

On Dynatrac's website, "MADE IN THE USA" is prominently displayed.

How odd.

I watched that video...two trail runs and the TeraFlex broke....made me start looking at other brands, decided on the Evo brand, never saw in any of the video your jeep break except the axle I believe...because of the 40’s. Btw, I have no intentions of hard core wheeling, would rather have over kill strong rather than worrying if it will break.

Its really amusing the lengths companies will go to in trying to obfuscate where in the actual hell their products are made. To require 4 or more labels to decode where and how they are 'made in America' shows how they try to play the game.

There should be three labels and three labels only;

Made in USA =100% just that
Assembled in USA = put together in USA from domestic and foreign parts
Made in "country of origin" wherever that may be.

Done. Problem is gov't allows this so companies like Teraflex can practice this deception.

OP needs to put down paste jar he's been eating out of.

What gives you the impression that I am looking to build a mall crawler here? I have almost $10k invested into the running gear alone and I made a mistake with the AEV lift.. If I had a little more understanding on the JK's suspension geometry I would have ran like hell from the AEV...

You have 10k invested and all you have to show for it is a crap AEV lift and some 35's? Why are arguing with everyone here? You clearly make bad decisions.

Well he does have that Bad Ass assembled in the USA terraflex axle. That alone is almost 4K, coincidentally the same price he could have had a MADE IN USA PR44 for had he done the research here first.

Damn, went to bed early and missed all this shit. Couldn’t agree more on TF deception. It’s crazy once someone believes they are right, no amount of truthful evidence can show them the light. He’s going to do what he wants in the end.

Have you had a chance to see in person a Teraflex long arm kit next to say an Evo long arm? You can just look at them and see the difference for yourself. I am another one that had a Teraflex long arm kit. Had my problems with blow out bushings and have since made the switch to the Evo high clearance long arm. Night and day difference in quality of each and every part. The brackets are thicker, the control arms are bigger, and the Johnny joints are much better.
If you haven't made the purchase to the Teraflex yet do yourself a favor and try to find somewhere or someone that has each one and look for yourself.
If you are set on the long arm, and you were to ask me I would say go Evo 4" double D long arm and some King 2.5s. It may be 2 times the cost but it's 1000 times the quality.

Seems a little odd to have had 5 wranglers, so much (apparent) knowledge on Jeeps, thousands of dollars spent in upgrades, extensive rock crawling experience... The balls to Tell everyone here to “Go Fuck Themselves”.... yet you ask the question: “Going to a Long Arm, What can I expect?” I mean, since you’re such a Teraflex Fanboy.... how did you miss Dennis’s explanations in his video’s.... did you ask your 4WP guy?... or simply Google that Shit....For Example you can search: “Long arm vs Short arm”... or type “Common Sense, where can I get some?”.

Quality issues aside, one thing that strikes me as questionable about the TF long arm kit is the fairly large difference in length between the upper arms and lower arms, particularly in the rear. Seems like that would cause large changes in pinion angle as the suspension cycles. Maybe that stresses the drive shaft u joint? Compare to, for example, the Synergy or EVO long arm systems, which have upper and lower arms closer in length.

If you haven't made your purchase yet, I'd highly recommend looking again at kits. Specifically, I'd look at a kit that has the Johnny Joints on the arms. I researched LA kits myself and ended up going with an Evo kit. I wasn't crazy about the radius arms that Currie and Clayton use on their front arms. I had Rock Krawler kit on and wasn't crazy with their arms, specifically the design of their joints. They are a son of a bitch to keep straight when you install 'em. Metalcloak and Teraflex I wouldn't run if they were free. There are others but for my money EVO had the best kit.

Still, its your money, but a LA kit is pretty much a permanent change to your Jeep and its not cheap. Choose wisely!

Honest question, because I just don’t know, what’s wrong with Metalcloak in your opinion?

Greetings Folks!

I am finally replacing my AEV 2.5" and going with a Long Arm kit. I've decided on the Teraflex Alpine CT4 with Falcon 3.3 shocks and I am curious as to what and how much benefit I will see once installed.

Like most of us; this Jeep spends most of its life on pavement. But... it does see its fair share of off road as well. I am going to Moab or Rubicon this year, so performance off road is equally important. I was 100% certain that the AEV 2.5 kit would fulfill all of my needs, but unfortunately it falls way short in the road manners department. The AEV does just fine off road and I like the height, but I would like to see a little more flex and better road manners which is why the decision to go with the long arm.

Basically, I am going into this with the idea that the LA will solve the road manners and give me a little better performance off road. Does that sound about right?

Also, I am being told that the Falcon shocks are close to the best thing since sliced bread.. What makes them so great?

Teraflex is garbage! Made over seas! Plain and simple. Don’t buy any of their crap!
