Front axle issue

Will it hurt to drive with only the passenger shaft in I am sure the snow is still to come here this winter and this jeep does not get around very well with out 4 wheel drive. Can I shift into 4 wheel drive to get traction in the rear without damaging anything up front with this configuration? Or do I need to pull that passenger side out also?

I would think it would be okay, but just keep an eye on the LF tube end to make sure fluid doesn't seep out past your rag/plug. Technically, if you engaged your locker, you would have 3 wheel drive. I would think that would be okay but can't say I've done it.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. If you really need 4WD to get around, there's a very good chance that you will break your other shaft. Otherwise, you should be fine to drive with just one shaft pulled in 2WD. Just stuff a rag in the open tube as mentioned.

Going with the keep it simple stupid, one of your ball joints was loose. Try replacing both ball joints first before grabbing a new housing. Could just be that they are both a little worn out and that is causing the misalignment.

I hear you. That would be great if that is the solution.

Got it. Have to save up for the the PR44. If I pull the right front, will the rear axle get better traction with 4wd engaged than with 2wd? It is bound to snow a lot more here this winter. Normally driving without 4wd engaged, the right rear is the only one pulling. Talking high range here
