FIRE EXTINGUISHER Mounts for JL & JT

In spite of always having a fire extinguisher in all my Jeeps, I'm embarrassed to say that I don't currently have one on my JL or my JT's. That said and after seeing Ben's recent post about how his helped save his 392, I'm determined to mitigate this problem now. That said, what are all of you using to mount or carry your fire extinguisher on your JL Wrangler or Gladiator?

Thank you in advance

I have to admit, I currently don't have one. In the past, I have used a rear roll cage mount but, I didn't like how "far away" or "inconvenient" it felt. So I'm just waiting for @wayoflife to make a better one for me to buy ;)
So I’ve always heard people say it’s to far away, and I can tell you that it’s not, either way i had to open a door being I was outside, the roll bar makes it very accessible, sure if you were flying out of your drivers seat it might be faster being mounted at your feet, but if you’re outside the vehicle I don't think it really matters, it’s more important that it’s accessible

Agree that it was accessible but was still awkward and, having a quick release compared to annoying Velcro straps would have been better.

I think I’d prefer something mounted by my seat in arms reach, quick and easy.

Yea the quick release is def the way to go.

I’m not one to talk as I don’t have an extinguisher in my Jeep. I like the idea of one mounted on the left rear roll bar because it seems to be a common location when someone is running up to help after a roll.

A second extinguisher close at hand to the driver is a good idea as well.

I have an all-purpose (A,B,C) and a recreational (B,C), both on quick-release mounts. A firefighter friend of mine recommended the recreational for engine bay fires, since the all-purpose is corrosive to the wiring.
What mounts and where are they located? That’s the main question of this thread of how and where are they mounted

I had mine mounted on rear roll cage, and it too no time at all to get, especially being that I was already outside the vehicle. I have the rugged ridge one
That's how I've always done it, on the c-pillar of my Jeeps. Just wasn't sure how to do that well with all the plastic cladding on the JL and JT now.

Having one close at at would be optimal but on a JL or JT and all the extra plastic everywhere, there's very little real estate for even a compact one. There are options out there that I've started looking at but have no idea if or how well they actually work.
I still need a traditional extinguisher, but in the mean time I have this Element chemical extinguisher.

Now this ^^^ is one of the options that I was looking at but I would probably need to buy one and test it out to see if it actually works.

From what I have seen, even with the biggest and the best fire extinguisher, you can only really put out a fire that's small and really, just starting. Anything big and hot, you're kind of screwed.

Yup, what you were told is right. ABC will ruin your engine even if you can save it from a fire. BC is really what should be used on your Jeep. ABC is always good to have for around camp or on the trail to help put out an unintentional brush fire.

Yup, that's what I've been hoping to see ^^^
Yeah, been looking at that. Just how and where to mount it is my question.

Funny side note, I had a Chinese gal come up to me at SEMA while waiting for a ride and she opened up a brown paper bag, pulled one of those mounts and started pimping it to me. Told me how she could have my logo on it and everything and for cheap LOL

Yea for sure, bit of an older pic, but I have half of the plastic gone due to my roof rack mount, but it actually stays put pretty good with the plastic. But I do feel like the strap is tighter on the metal side of the mount. Can’t recall what the back of the bar on the JT looks like tho. IMG_0669.png

I expect that the Element extinguisher works "fine", but with three major concerns. 1) The number on the product is how many seconds it runs. 2) Once it is started, there is no way to stop it. 3) Once it it is used, you have to buy a new one.

The Element extinguisher is started similar to a road flare.
