F-Cracker the Gladiator build

Today F-Cracker got some love.

I changed the oil & filter. The diesel motor calls for 9-qts of Euro Platinum Oil that’s made from natural gas!? How the hell does that work?

The used oil is black as coal even when relatively new. I have heard it has something to do with the emissions/EGR. IDK and welcome any elaboration on this subject.

The fuel filter is a bit different than what I’m used to and goes in from the top on the driver’s side.

Once again tire rotation cross-fit.

I also topped off the wiper fluid.

Tomorrow I’ll do the fuel filter and install new wipers.

I finished up on F-Cracker today.

I changed the fuel filter. It’s actually really easy to do.

After you remove the skid plate there is a small valve that lets you ‘drain’ the filter before you pull it off. Well, that’s cool but even after draining it, when I screwed off the filter/filter cap there was still a couple of cups of diesel in it- so I’m not sure that’s really very effective. 🤔

The old filter was pretty dirty.

Quite a bit of sediment- good thing there’s a filter!

New filters from Mopar are hard to get so I use these.

The fuel filter housing cap uses a 28mm socket!? Not 27mm like the oil filter. 😡

Not having a 28mm I had to make a run to town. The third stop had them. 🤣

Also replaced wipers. These basic ones were $14. Some of the more Gucci versions were up to $31.99! 😳

I’ll stick to the cheap ones even if I gotta change more often.

Since I was on a roll I topped off the diffs with lube.

All finished! Now it’s time to drink 🥃 and eat a big steak. 🥩

that's a lot of sediment.
I used to use the more expensive wipers but found they lasted as long as the cheap ones in this Texas heat.

I believe the petcock on the fuel filter is the water separator. Only drains whatever water it has collected not the fuel in the filter.

If my memory is serving me well that is…
