evo bolt on coil over question

Stock wheels with spacers won't work with the bolt on kit. The slabs have 3.5" backspacing and the chamber pros have 4.06" backspacing. Either one will work. Stock wheels with spacers are only at 4.5"

Might want to double check on whether or not the Pro Chambers will work with coilovers. Speaking with the folks at Off Road Evolution, they said they MIGHT work with coilovers and for sure will not work (without spacers) with the DTD.

I personally liked the looks of the PCs a little more than the Slabs, however, knowing I am planning coilovers in the future, I was worried about having to double buy.
 
...actually, a coil-shock set-up might outperform slightly by virtue of the larger diameter coilspring and the ability to run a bypass shock but that's most likely beyond the scope of the question posed.

Huh? Are you trying to say that there is no such thing as bypass coilovers?
 
hey guys im looking at lifting my Rubicon, I was looking at the 3.5" dual rate metalcloak lift, but after looking at the site a bit ive decided to look into the evo bolt on coil overs.

Trust me, you are making the right choice. We didn't put it in the PNW film but going over the whoops at the end, a guy with the MC lift and 6-pack shocks tried keeping up with us and had his ass handed to him.

what is the benifit of the coil overs vs a regular lift?

Regular lift as in maybe an EVO Enforcer kit which has plush ride coils and King shocks? If so, the difference would mainly be in the amount of articulation you have. The bolt on kit will give you more and it is adjustable. If needed, you can have it setup with different spring rates and pressure to give you the ride you want.

do the coil overs lift the jeep?

Yes. They will in effect replace your coils and shocks.

would i need anything else besides the coil overs front and rear to lift the jeep?

You will want a drag link flip/front track bar relocation kit and adjustable front lower control arms and a new front drive shaft at bare minimum. The kit should come with everything else you need. Of course, I think EVO now sells everything you need as a kit.

Do you or anyone happen to know if Evolander is running spacers as well? Or will it work as is? And if spacers, is it really that "bad" to run spacers? (I've looked around a bunch on here and ORE site, and the ore site says need a 3.5 back spacing or less.. Just trying to figure out what wheel to buy! And I really like the chamber pro)

If you are going to buy them from ORE ask them. I can tell you my 3.5" BS wheels barely clear my EVO bolt on COs. I tried racelines with 4" backspacing and they rubbed. Drew gave me very good advice when I got mine.

Be very careful comparing what EVOLander runs to the "as shipped" bolt on kit. Mel did custom axle side mounting points on EVOLander, this how he is also running stock driveshafts front and rear still.

Eddie you have the chambers but you have spacers on the front also right to adapt to the 8x6.5 on your pr60 rear?

Drew at ore confirmed this the other day during a discussion on Facebook which a member here who was ordering chamber pros and the Evo bolts ons. So yes it will work just fine. If it was a Dtd then yes the chamber pros will not work as Evo states that you NEED 3.5" of bs.
 
I ran some wheels and spacers that equated to about 3.7" back spacing and my tire marked all over the coil.

I asked in an email to ore if chambers would work and was told no. But that was about a year ago. Maybe EVO can chime in on the thread and let us know?
 
Shhhhh... Don't talk about mc over here.. Lol Evo coilovers all the way. Like everyone has stated - front lowers and drive shaft at minimum. The problem that I ran into with the backspacing is actually the rear links on the sway bar. Make sure you have soacers or the correct bs.
 
Nothing wrong with mc...if you like unsupported hype and high prices.

I started with mc and I'm running bolt in coilovers now and there is no comparison in the 2. Don't get me wrong the mc lift was fine but not in the same league and the coilovers.

When I get it installed I'll chime in here again. If the rear sway bar is an issue I'll remove it.

well guys i think you have made my mind up. Im going to start saving for the EVO bolt on kit. I had a question do you have to have the front and rear bolt ons at the same time or can i get 4" coils for the back and run the front alone with it until i get enpough money for the rear?

Yes, you'll just have to adjust the front to match the height in the rear
