I have a friend that keeps telling me the same thing. We'll see.
That guy is crazy lucky lolHe spent some time at the Dino trap this morning. Looks like he was off to the right too much.

He stole something from the trap. I'll have to go and look this morning:

Wow, they froze locked open? Not sure why, but the wax dirt was a failure. Since I was re-doing the set, I figured I'd set the traps off and clean up the area. They wouldn't go off at all. Stuck to the ground. Glad he didn't step there last night. Here's the re-make.

I have yet to own a dog that didn't rip the stuffing out of every stuffed toy they got. it must be in their DNA lolAfter all that commotion, all he got was the stuffing I used to insulate the squeaker. He dropped it not too far away. What a dumbass. I even had a bait glob on a stick i tucked under the rock and he moved it a foot or so and didn't even eat it.

He worked the trap set from the right. It's all scraped up (red area). I'll put a log there today to block him.

Those two did. I just checked the remaining 4. 3 of them fired but slow and had frozen mud on them.Wow, they froze locked open?
Do you need to bury them so deep? Just curious because I don’t know anything but what you’ve shown us.Those two did. I just checked the remaining 4. 3 of them fired but slow and had frozen mud on them.
As far as the other two from the other night where he almost stepped on them, he just got lucky lol. No wax dirt on those ones. That ground had so many fallen leaves, the soil was like compost. Even in freezing temps, it worked easily.
They have to be bedded solid which requires a little bit of depth in the trap bed. These critters spend their life on their feet. If the trap moves they'll avoid the spot. But the final layer of dirt covering is extremely thin. Just enough to hide it visually. I'll bet entire trap is covered by 1/8" of dirt. But when it rains, all of the dirt soaks up the moisture. Then if temps drop, the ground is a block of ice basically.Do you need to bury them so deep? Just curious because I don’t know anything but what you’ve shown us.
Got it, that makes sense. They have to be bedded solid which requires a little bit of depth in the trap bed. These critters spend their life on their feet. If the trap moves they'll avoid the spot.
