Coming up to Speed With Grubbicon

The tie rod situation is fixed. No more of the ram assist riding the tie rod.

Sweet! What did you end of giving for them if you dont mind me asking? Hope you didnt already mention it as I didnt look back much beyond this pic.

I dont think I ever did say but I gave the guy $800 for them. I was gonna pull them out of a truck myself so it would be cheaper but couldnt find any in any junk yards around. I felt that 800 was a very fair prize considering most around are 1200 or so.

Thats a good deal. Most front 60s around me are $1,000 by themselves no matter if it was Ford or GM, the Dodge ones are a little cheaper. Most need rebuilt also. I lucked out when I found mine 10 years ago (still havent done anything with it either, lol) I bought a running and driving 79 Chevy one ton for $500 from a farmer. He thought he was robbing me of my money at that price. I couldnt pay him fast enough. Sold the 4 bolt main 350 to a buddy for $250, kept the 4 speed tranny and np 205 case and the axles and frame. Hauled the cab and flatbed off to scrap as they were both rusting away, the cab also had every body panel dented up and mis matched colors. Wiring was junk etc. etc. So none of that was worth saving. Got almost $400 for the cab and bed at the scrap yard. Ended up selling the frame and rear end to a buddy for $100 and he made a trailer out of it. Still have the front 60, tranny, and 205 case.

Ive been looking around for a Ford front 60 for my 1990 Chevy burban because of the way I may go with it, havent found one cheap enough for me yet. LOL.

Sounds like you need to find time to throw that 60 in the front of yours!!!

Sounds like you did definitely luck out. I know Kingpin 60 will run you $1000-$1500 and like you said they usually arent in the greatest shape around here either.

I doubt I will ever get that big with the jeep. The 60 is for another project. If I ever get that big with the JK it will be after its paid off and I would save the money for a PR60/80 or borrow money against the JK for axles and suspension. For now it will stay on 35s until I can get on 37s and then stay that way for a long time.

Earlier today it did some serious raining while at the Show and Shine and off course no top on the Jeep.

Because of all the rain earlier and some tonight and supposed to rain some tomorrow figured Id put the top and doors on. This is the first time the factory soft top and hard doors have been on in about 3 years. This will also be the first time the factory soft top sees any dirt. Kinda digging the look so far. As much as I love my trek top Ive gotten tired of that look.

Had a great time at Jeep Fest this weekend and here some more pictures that I have.

Sunday morning I also tried to make Bounty Hill. Only 3 of us will actually Jeeps tried it the rest were tube chassis rigs that started as a Jeep. I was trying to coming over the last rock on the hill and ended up braking the yoke on the tcase and the ujoint on top and it also cracked one of the ears when it broke. I also ended up bending this tie rod up into the ram assist so now I have the problem like I did with my brother. A guy should be sending me the video of me on the hill and when I get it ill post it up. When it broke I was backing out and thought that it was pinion that broke because I could hear grinding. Well it turned out it was the drive shaft spinning on the tcase skid and as I was pulling away the crowd stopped me when the drive shaft fell out.

Here is also a crappy picture I have of the hill.

At this point I think the smartest thing for me to do is just leave it the way it is till I do the ton swap because the drive shafts and tie rod will be changed anyway.

I just realized you are running the RK tie rod and drag link.. Does your draglink hit your frame when you are flexed with passenger side up?

Nice pics by the way! We had to run so did not get a chance to get over to bounty hill. We sat in the boulder dash line for almost 2 hours. The 4 jeeps in front of me broke, then it was time to go..

Its actually just stock tie rod. My original last forever till I let thardy drive it lmao. I got into a rock on the obstacle course and bent this one up into the ram. It is the RK drag link though and I have no issues with hitting the frame. I got that nose bleed high lift so im assuming that helps. It may hit on a smaller one but not really sure.

Boulder dash was definitely a good one. I was pissed when I realizes the cars were gone lol. Sucks yall had to go before you were able to give it a shot because it was definitely a good one.

Some great pics, sucks about the break tho.

Thanks man and at least it waiting this long to break. Sucks I cant sell it now to get some money back for the new drive shafts but shit happens lol.

We got to do boulder dash before we took off. I just left at those little holes at the end.. I just thought it was mud, so i went around it. The chick in front me broke her axle on the mud wall that was like the second to last obstacle. My buddy in front of her, busted his tranny on the first rock climb in his YJ.

Dang sounds like there was a lot of carnage out there this weekend. Im honestly amazed there wasnt many roll overs. Seems in years past there was multiple.

Those are some awesome pics. And at least you already have the new axles, Now you just need to get them together. :yup:
