I agree. Turns out that the 14bolt was too skinny for the Jeep but it happened to turn out to be the perfect width for the Toyota project my brother and I are doing.

Now im gonna try to find some 05+ super duty axles because they are around 73" wms to wms unlike stock JK at 65.5".
It is a srw. Out of a 97ish gmc 3500 work truck. wms to wms is around 66.5 inches... To find one with an ideal width for a jk you need one out of an 99+ 2500 vortec as they are wider...Is that srw or drw 14bolt?

So are you looking for jk width or wider or the widest?
Im looking for widest. The 05+ f250s and f350s are 73"ish wide. Thats what I want.
Get you a dana 70hd, put 14bolt srw hubs on it, weld on bracket for calipers.
Front dana 60 drw. That puts you about 77.5" wms-wms.
That's the combo I had for my CJ7 project before I sold it all. I had some H1 wheels with 7" backspacing that brought it back in some. I was close to 85ish" outside tire to outside tire.

Maybe I should say not as wide as I can find because I dont see that ever getting down the trails down here. I do really like that idea though. Im sure it was had to flop over in those off camber spots.
You must have some wide trails. Around me that width would be pretty limiting. Those should be sweet! :thumb:
Down here in the South East we do have a good bit of tighter trails but for the most part we are all off road parks down here if you want hard wheeling. Most of those places are set up for bit rigs. The big thing around here now are Rock Bouncers.
If only I had the money for a rock bouncer, my Jeep would make Moby look like a bitch lol

:cheesy: That is the truth!
Haha I was at an event about a month ago with some rock bouncers and just started asking some guys how much they've spent on some stuff and man did they spend some $$$$. One guy spent 40k on just the chassis. Must be nice to be able to spend that kind of money on a toy lol
Damn that looks like it was a royal pain to get out of there. Thank you for the pics and walk through for taking the locker apart. Now Ive got a idea of what I'd be looking at if there is ever a need to do that. :yup:
This is what I ended up doing. I hit it a few times and it broke a piece off then I was able to get it off fairly easy. Im amazed the splines in the locker were fine but they were.
