Today is National Coffee Day. I just ordered BRCC's Dictator Gesha based off of Highway Trout's previous recommendation. He said it was one of the best coffees he's had. We'll see if the price is worth it.

I just ordered a bag too. I’m gonna nerd out on it this time. Dial everything in with a scale and what not. Too expensive just to slam in the pour-o-matic.

Yeah when I was off work with the baby I really geeked out on coffee. Playing with ratios, temps, and weights...haha. I still think the Aeropress (used as intended, not inverted or with water hotter than 175°) makes the best cup of coffee.

Also if you're a fan of cold brew the Jose's Organic French Roast from Costco is perfect for it. Its cheap and has great flavor. I use a 5:1 water to coffee ratio and brew for 12-15 hours in our Boudin cold brew french press. It makes a concentrate that I mix 2 parts water to 1 part coffee over ice and sweeten with homemade vanilla sweet cream. Just make sure to transfer the coffee after brewing to a glass jar or it tastes like plastic after sitting in the fridge for a few days.

I'm at work so I haven't gotten to try it yet. I know it shipped but not sure of it was delivered yet...haha.

Well it showed up yesterday evening. We tried it out this morning and it was really good. It was really smooth and had great flavor. I used the aeropress as usual. I need to get a chemex so I can do pourovers.

Few years ago on a whim I bought a $25 coffee grinder and a bag of whole bean coffee and since then have never gone back to the pre-ground stuff. No offense, but you cannot beat a cup of fresh ground, fresh brewed coffee in the morning at the crack of dawn. There are a lot of "craft-roasters" if you will out there making some kick-ass coffee. You need a glass case with killer boysenberry pie in it...
