finished sanding the inner race of a pair of setup bearings. Ready to figure out my carrier shims. I'm going to take the pinion to work and press on the bearing with the arbor press there.

I figured out a way to press on the pinion bearing without a press. Put the setup bearings on with the stock thickness shim pack. It's really tight getting the locker in with the truss.

Took a break from the gears to fix the fuel cell mounting holes. Then went back to the gears. They suck getting in and out with the truss there. After taking out almost all the shims. 1 had .007" backlash. Now going to check contact patch.

Finally got a contact patch I'm happy with and still kept backlash in tolerance. now to press on the new bearings and set pinion bearing preload and torque the pinion nut. Happy to be almost done with the gears.

Didn't need to. New pinion is on the right. Yukon just made an eliminator into the pinion shaft

Yeah, you still have to shim the yoke side of the bearing to get that sweet spot of right pinion nut torque and preload.

Got the carrier bearings, inner pinion race and outer pinion bearing pressed in. Torqued bearing caps and ring gear bolts. I'm out of rtv and I don't have a 33mm socket yet. The axle will have to wait to get finished until probably after Christmas.

Diff cover and ram mount diff plate are back on. Had to machine the ram clamp feet to fit over the welds on the ram mount gussets. Got the ram tacked in.
