Building of Crash

I can't believe I haven't seen this thread before. Enjoyed reading it. I got screwed on an '09 Jeep that had a clean Carfax, too. It had been wrecked. Crash looks great, though!

I got mine on...I zip tied the bottom of the boot onto the shock body so there's a little hole to let everything breath/drain should stuff get inside.

I like the way they look anyway.

Yeah, thanks ryan. I think ill be keeping them on

I had those on my 2 door, and really liked them. I saw a thread on here, somewhere, about taking the boots off. If I remember correctly, a lot of people say they wind up trapping mud & dust.

Yeah, these are the fairly new 5000Xs. They are basically the 9000s without the knob. I read somewhere these are equivalent to the know being on 5

Alright, so today i start to slowly prepare crash for his up and coming trip to rausch next weekend. I started with swapping out the rubicon shocks he has for the Rancho 5000Xs i ordered. I went with the RS55329 and RS55330. These shocks are made for a 3" lift and I'm running them on the eVo leveling kit.

The start of my day:

I started with the Rears

While i had everything disconnected, i decided to swap out my rear coils from a 2dr willys

To a set our Rubi 4door coils i got from ryan (scull)

Not really sure what the numbers mean, but i know the two door ones started with 42 and the four door started with 44. Then the ones i had on there ended in 56 and i swapped to 59s. Assuming that the higher number is a stiffer ride.

On to the front!

That was just a simple shock swap.

Only having driven him to the store and back, i can already notice an INCREDIBLY AWESOME difference in the way he rides. When i hit the gas, i no longer feel like I'm popping a wheelie from the weak spring in the back. He feels much more planted and i cant wait to see the difference at Rausch.

There wasnt much difference in the collapsed length of the coils, but the extra downtravel ill get will hopefully be noticeable.

Measurements of the rubicon shocks before:
Front extended:22.5"
Rear Extended:23"

With these new ranchos:
Front:25"
Rear:25.5"

Im pushing this leveling kit to the max and if i literally had another half inch in downtravel, the coils would start to unseat.

The only problem that I'm running into now is if i install the rockstars that have been sitting in my closet, my rear coil will unseat because the extra 1.5" higher the rear shock mount is.

So i will either be returning these rear shocks for shorter ones in the rear, or skipping the rockstars. Haven't decided yet

After all was said and done

Looking good sir! Glad to hear the shocks worked out well, I'm waiting for my 4th, and hopefully correct shock to show up. I got a 55326 stuck in a 55329 box the other day! [emoji35]

Once things get straightened around on the forum, ill be posting a bunch of pictures from the Rausch trip from this past weekend.

I have a big list that I'm still getting straightened around and trying to put a list together, but I'm 90% sure I'm going to try to put this into action sooner then later.

Prorock 44
-ARB locker
-ten factory shafts
-prosteers
-5.13s

ARB twin compressor
Arb 35 spline rear locker
Still deciding between revolution or dynatrac shafts
5.13s
Dynatrac diff cover
Adams 1350 shafts front and rear
Currie or synergy rear upper arms

If anyone has any other suggestions or sees any pieces of the puzzle im missing, please feel free to comment

ProGrip brakes if you don't already have them. Might as well do that at the same time.

Yeah i thought about that after seeing jerrys (DDays) this weekend. My wife will be driving my jeep casually with my 4 month old daughter in the back. Sounds like a Good addition

I think I'm going ProGrips next as well. As much as I'd like to go for a set of slabs or chamber pro IIs, I think I'd rather be able to stop first.

My only suggestion...run a stainless braided line off the ARB if you run it from under your hood lol.
