Allow me to present the following challenge - I'd like for you to make a valid case as to why a guy like me would WANT to vote for Trump. This as opposed to just telling me how much you don't like him. I should note that the federal courts comment was a good start.

I’m guessing that, aside from the federal courts, your priority was (is) federal regulation on business...also a major concern of mine.

People hate Trump the person, you look at his policies and most of everyone would back him (center to right, and maybe even some left). But once you see his face, the wokeness is triggered. In reality, he is brining troops home, defeated ISIS, lowered taxes, boosted the economy (once during a pandemic), attempted to detour illegal immigration (he was blocked every time by never trumpers) and has done more for minorities than the first minority president....oh and I forgot to mention, his administration brokered the first real Mideast peace treaty. His family has not profited off of any of this, they have forgone any salaries and have put their family on the journalist hit list (to include the children).

Meanwhile, Biden’s / Obama’s have directly profited from Netflix deals to Ukraine from politics. Trump is arrogant, so what? His policies are sound and when politicians are are next to scumbags as people, I’ll focus on their policies. If you focus on the person not the policies on who/when vote, you’ll be saving your vote for a looong time.

Not to get in an Ed sandwich here... but I feel like I have laid out why most people vote (or should vote) for him above. Or at least why I am.

If your position is that he is rude, arrogant and doesn’t bring the pose/professionalism that a president should to the office, then on some level I can respect that. For agreements sake, Obama was well spoken, intelligent and likable outside of his politics but how did he do?

Trumps policies and how effective he has ran this country, is pretty damn good in my opinion. He has had missteps for sure, what president hasn’t? But all of his have been intensely scrutinized by the media, all for the country’s consumption.

Some would point to the handling of the China virus, I would argue NO sitting president would survive that when you have a hostile media.

Anywhos, back to work.

Actually Trump did not defeat ISIS...the Kurds did most of the heavy lifting, as well as most of the dying. When we were done with the Kurds, Trump turned his back on them and left them to twist in the wind...which prompted Gen Mattis to resign as Secretary of Defense, as they were getting slaughtered by Turkish forces.

Did he lower your taxes? Are you paying less taxes the last couple years? Most people didn't benefit from the tax revision...except the wealthy.

Fortunately, our economy is robust in spite of Trump...and it will survive this pandemic, as it has survived multiple recessions and the Great Depression. I don't blame the pandemic on Trump...and whomever was the president during this, I believe the same amount of people would have died, regardless.

I'm still completely puzzled as to why we never had a complete overhaul of our immigration laws (which I completely support), when we had a GOP controlled Congress and president for two full years, instead of wasting so much money and time on building some wall that would absolutely not prevent the illegal entry into our country...as if no one ever heard of a tunnel or ladder. What we really needed was to spend the money on more enforcement bodies, training and technology.

As far as not profiting on the presidency?...it is the best thing that has ever happened to him and his family financially. He has ordered the Air Force to reroute flights to airports close to his golf resorts in Ireland and Scotland and stay at his hotels (both of which were bleeding money badly and teetering on bankruptcy) when they usually refuel and stay at US bases, all at taxpayers expense. The FBI wanted to relocate their headquarters out of the old J Edgar Hoover building in downtown D.C. into the suburbs; instead, Trump ordered them to rebuild at far greater cost at the original site...because this property would be available for purchase and possible new hotel being built on it...across the street from his Trump Hotel, a hotel where a Saudi lobbyist bought 500 room bookings...

And your saying we have a Mideast Peace Treaty? so...the hostilities between the Israeli's and the Palestinian's have ceased?

When I was young, I had several discussions with my dad about politicians. My dad was about as conservative as they get...lifelong registered Republican, which of course shaped my political views. He told me that there were several kinds of politicians, and how they impact our nation.

One type was smart, but corruptible. My dad was okay with this, as long as he did what was best for the nation.

Another was smart and honest. He said this person does not exist in politics.

The third was dumb, but honest. My dad said this person could harm the nation because he didn't know any better.

The last was dumb and corruptible. This, according to my dad, was the worst case scenario.

Unfortunately, our next election is between the last two...

I like your dads analysis of the 4 types.... and I would assume Trump (according to your list) is Dumb & Honest.... and Biden is Dumb & Corruptible. So we agree that Biden is the worst case scenario..... But I think you are giving Trump too much credit and not enough at the same time.... I doubt that he is honest... maybe Blunt is a better word. And it's seems wrong to call a Business Billionaire that became president.. "Dumb"... I think Arrogant and Unpredictable with a Poor Vocabulary.. is better suiting. He challenges the norm of politics and he brings the Bullshit right to the surface. By "Bullshit" I mean the Left.

Actually, I think Biden is dumb and honest...and Trump is not as dumb as he appears to be...

I don't think either one is fit to be president...it's like asking your executioner if you want to die by firing squad or by hanging...

Interesting.... I wouldn't say Trump is corruptible at all.... which is exactly why the Left hates him so much... He can't be controlled. And it's the only sane reason for the left to want Biden.... because he is corruptible... and can be controlled. :hmm:

That is an interesting perspective...I've always thought Trump was very corrupt, long before he ever ran for office...something he learned from his dad (and how Donald became rich, by funneling money through shell companies put in his name to avoid gift and inheritance taxes)...and many in our (the USA) intelligence community believe that Trump is open to manipulation from foreign entities, basically because of his finances in other countries.

What I worry about Biden (or any president for that matter) is who he picks for his cabinet...the people who really run the country. If he thinks we should go back to the same programs and policies that happened during Obama's administration, then we are in trouble...is Biden corruptible?...probably, most in office are in some degree. But will he hold his own personal interest above the country's...I don't know. But I'm fairly convinced that Donald does...

Kurds defeated ISIS WITH US support, there’s no way they could have done it without our Air Power and Special Forces. So he defeated ISIS with little US involvement/risk, another win. Agree about turning face on the Kurds, I have worked with them a lot in my time overseas. Good people, but he prefers US remains out of things that don’t directly benefit us. I can see both sides.

Yes, almost everyone’s taxes were lowered. So I benefited by it.

And the stuff you have quoted for him “profiting” of of the presidency borders some serious tin foil hat stuff. I read more anti - trump crap than I care to stomach, but it’s interesting to see what others are saying. And I have heard anything of what you are mentioning. I have heard he’s donated his $400k salary every year... how many presidents have done that? Heck, I’d wager his businesses are losing money due to his entry into politics.

Again, you won’t even give the guy credit for something no president has done - brokered peace between Israel and Arab Nations (not all but more than any other president). Palestinians will never seek peace, after visiting the country and speaking with both sides, I have determined that unless Israel will give up land they will always been conflict with Palestinians. But if they give up land, they are more at risk to being pushed into the water from their enemies.

I completely agree that without our air support and our involvement with our special forces, ISIS would not have been degraded as badly as they are now...no question. But I disagree with giving Trump credit for it, as much as I disagree with giving Obama credit for killing Bin Laden...these are operations in the making long before either were president.

His business's are definitely profiting from his presidency...absolutely.

Ok...I will give him credit (his son in law Jared was most likely responsible for this) for brokering a peace agreement between Israel and the UAB and Bahrain...both countries which are close allies of Saudi Arabia, and hate Iran almost as much as the Israeli's. You are absolutely right about giving land to the Palestinians in order to have peace...but they gave back the entire Sinai peninsula in order to have peace with Egypt, and still have a peace agreement with Jordan, with whom they share a border as well...

For starters they are far too socialist and left leaning for my taste and I don’t want the USA heading that direction. The major gun grab by your government is just one example. I am certain your country is a beautiful place but your government not so much.

Well I don’t disagree with you but there is a very strong conservative element here as well.

THIS!
And. Some folks are beyond reasoning with.
I give up.
The quote from "Last of the Mohicans", comes to mind. "Don't try to make them understand you, and, don't try to understand them, for, they are a breed apart, and make no sense."

One last thing.... some here have said they think something big is about to happen.
Something VERY BIG is about to happen!
Much more important than mans politics, raging seas, forest fires, vocanic eruptions,... all of it!
Most, however, don't have eyes to see...

There will be earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in many places; these things are just the beginning...

I was thinking the very same thing...

I’ve forgotten why I joined this forum in the first place...it certainly wasn’t to get dragged into religious or political arguments. I apologize...I will only talk about Jeep shit from now on...my last post on this thread.
