I would take offense being compared to any goddam politician, even the ones I'm friends with. :icon_crazy:

Biden is no intellectual giant, that's for sure. But he has a burnout video in his '67 Vette on Jay Leno's garage, so there's that...still not enough to vote for him though...

Lol, I remember that. I'd like to see a repeat of that now. :rolleyes2:

I think your argument against Trump would hold more water if the opposite party were somehow virtuous and represented the needs of the majority. And by opposition I'm including the media. If ever there felt like our way of life was under attack it is now. This is some of how I remember the feel of the late 60's/early 70's growing up. In normal times I don't think someone like Trump would ever get in office. I don't think he would have gotten the nomination. But this confrontation has been building up for quite some time now and he's standing up to the establishment like no one else has. That's where his appeal lies.

IMHO. this chaos is being perpetrated against us on purpose. Call me a tinfoil hat guy, but there's something big going down.

Edit: I understand the point you are making but you described virtually every politician in your comment - red or blue

When I was young, I had several discussions with my dad about politicians. My dad was about as conservative as they get...lifelong registered Republican, which of course shaped my political views. He told me that there were several kinds of politicians, and how they impact our nation.

One type was smart, but corruptible. My dad was okay with this, as long as he did what was best for the nation.

Another was smart and honest. He said this person does not exist in politics.

The third was dumb, but honest. My dad said this person could harm the nation because he didn't know any better.

The last was dumb and corruptible. This, according to my dad, was the worst case scenario.

Unfortunately, our next election is between the last two...

.

This is the tragedy. We need term limits. Maybe with that we could attract even a couple honest people that had no interest in being career politicians.

Last 24 years have seen DC selling out the American worker NAFTA WTO etc. workers all over were made to unbolt their machines from the factory floor and load em on trucks to Mexico or the LA port to be shipped over seas. Any given day you can go to the border and see the truck loads of textiles car parts and everything else being shopped into this country. This has lead to the rise in dollars stores and discount goods that has turned the country into a consumer based throw away culture. Then the same people who sold us out pit us against one another and the corporations that did and regulate away our rights. Their is something big coming ain’t it won’t be good and red or blue they couldn’t give a damn about me and you.

Trump never puts our country first...that's my main problem with him. He puts himself and his family first. You seem to think he cares about your well being...he couldn't give a shit about you. I still don't understand how the average working person in this country gravitates toward him, as if he has your back...he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He has never had dirt under his fingernails. He has no clue how to run a business, let alone a country (six bankruptcies, going on seven when his several hundred millions in loans come due in a few years). He has had everything paid for and done for him by someone else his entire life...is he just like you? Are you hanging out in Mar Lago, rubbing shoulders with him and his buddies?

I voted for Reagan...twice. I voted for HW Bush...twice. I voted for Bob Dole. I even voted for GW Bush...twice. I voted for McCain. I voted for Romney. And I understand why people voted for Trump (notice I didn't call him Orange Man) last election...he was running against Hillary Clinton, someone I could never vote for. But please...don't compare him to Reagan...

:cheesy: Wow, so bitter.

And honestly, fuck Bush, Dole, GW Bush, McCain and especially Romney. Also, no offense but you really have ZERO clue as to why people ENTHUSIASTICALLY voted for Trump. But hey, what would I know.

Clue me in...I do respect your opinion.

LOL - Based on what I just read from you, I don't think my opinion would mean a whole lot of anything. You've clearly got it all figured out and that's cool. I genuinely respect people who have strong beliefs and feel no need to convince them of otherwise.

You are absolutely correct...I really don't understand the enthusiasm for Trump, aside for not voting for Hillary. I don't expect you to convince me that Trump is a good president, and I don't expect to convince you that Trump is not a good president...and I respect our differences on the subject.

But you are wrong if you think your opinion does not mean anything to me...

You don't understand because you don't want to understand. You don't expect me to convince you that Trump is a good president because you don't want to be convinced. You couldn't convince me that Trump isn't a good president because you've never taken the time to try and understand why a guy like me would have voted for him in the first place. If my opinion really means something to you, you would already understand all this and that's where genuine respect comes from.

I second this also Brute! You don’t have a clue about a lot of this stuff in my opinion. But oh well, you have a ton of company in this country.

People hate Trump the person, you look at his policies and most of everyone would back him (center to right, and maybe even some left). But once you see his face, the wokeness is triggered. In reality, he is brining troops home, defeated ISIS, lowered taxes, boosted the economy (once during a pandemic), attempted to detour illegal immigration (he was blocked every time by never trumpers) and has done more for minorities than the first minority president....oh and I forgot to mention, his administration brokered the first real Mideast peace treaty. His family has not profited off of any of this, they have forgone any salaries and have put their family on the journalist hit list (to include the children).

Meanwhile, Biden’s / Obama’s have directly profited from Netflix deals to Ukraine from politics. Trump is arrogant, so what? His policies are sound and when politicians are are next to scumbags as people, I’ll focus on their policies. If you focus on the person not the policies on who/when vote, you’ll be saving your vote for a looong time.

I am actually genuinely interested in hearing why you are enthusiastic about Donald Trump. I have quite a few friends and family members who voted for him last election...most because they couldn't vote for Hillary Clinton, but several because of the fact that a Republican administration and Senate majority would have a long lasting and profound effect on our federal courts...I fully understand that, and have respect for that. Some of them have buyer's remorse, and will not vote for him this time...and some of them are going to vote for him again.

I've detailed multiple times why I dislike Trump, fully knowing it would be met with derision...but I've yet to hear why anyone thinks he is a good president now, after four years of seeing this administration. All I've been told is that I don't have a clue....

Allow me to present the following challenge - I'd like for you to make a valid case as to why a guy like me would WANT to vote for Trump. This as opposed to just telling me how much you don't like him. I should note that the federal courts comment was a good start.

Not to get in an Ed sandwich here... but I feel like I have laid out why most people vote (or should vote) for him above. Or at least why I am.

If your position is that he is rude, arrogant and doesn’t bring the pose/professionalism that a president should to the office, then on some level I can respect that. For agreements sake, Obama was well spoken, intelligent and likable outside of his politics but how did he do?

Trumps policies and how effective he has ran this country, is pretty damn good in my opinion. He has had missteps for sure, what president hasn’t? But all of his have been intensely scrutinized by the media, all for the country’s consumption.

Some would point to the handling of the China virus, I would argue NO sitting president would survive that when you have a hostile media.

Anywhos, back to work.
