Anyone run Currie RockJock?

Glad he resurrected this older thread. While it was going to be a ways down the road I was actually thinking about getting rj60 for both front and rear when I decide to go to a 37" Tire. After seeing this post I think I will just go with a Dynatrac set up even though it is much higher in price. Rather pay for it once

Dynatrac really has a lot to offer. I posted this on another thread but will post it here as well. Each axle is inspected and measured over 100 times prior to shipping it to you. And if you watch the building of the pro rock videos, you will see how much time and quality goes into them.

After 3 sets of Dynatrac axles, I've got no complaints...

I'd like to see the Huskies & Roll Tide in the championship game...

I know I am reviving a old trend but its because the is a lot of good info in here. So, now a few years later after this thread was last commented on, does anyone know if Currie addressed the issues with there axles or are you guys still see breaks and issues with their 60 line?

So long as you get the rear as a full float and don’t cheap out on parts, they are good axles. Same is true of even something like a ProRock.

I'm glad you bumped this thread. I've thought about RJ's for my old YJ. Been around and purchased Currie parts for 8.8 and 9" Fords, for years in streetrods. Never any problems. I also noticed GenRight seems to like them and I'm a big fan of them. Would love to go for the full GenRight coilover stretch kit for my '93.

Is the Currie rear effectively a high pinion design, with the load on the coast side of the ring gear?

Isn’t it like a 9” Ford that you bolt the carrier in from the front? If so I think they make high or low pinion carriers for the 9”

I was thinking of the currie 60 rear for the JK. I see now that currie says it’s a high pinion design. Normally that’s not ideal for the rear because you’re driving off the coast side of the ring gear, which may cause deflection. I gather Currie addresses this with their “exclusive ring gear load bolt.” Seems like a bandaid fix, but I do like the ground clearance gained within currie’s design.

All correct, and part of the reason I was really interested. Big help in the already super short older Jeeps. You can get a high pinion Ford 9".
I even went with a JB Conversions, super short SYE, in my 5" lifted YJ. And, no cv joint. But, Im pretty sure I'm at the limit for that. No driveline vibs., but 7 degrees, both ends.

Genright ran them on a street legal JKU in King of Hammers and finished. Synergy is currently running them on their JLU. I’d say they are probably pretty damned good. But, at the price point, I’m not sure I wouldn’t be looking at their F9 axles or the like from someone else.

Those F9 axles are badass. Isn't Bubba running something similar?

i don't know the exact housing and 3rd member setup but yea he's running fabricated 9s in his JKU that he jumped. think he said he's going to put the Currie F9s in his JT at some point. he did a JLU build a couple of months back that had the Currie F9s. just beautiful axles.

I did look at F9 but they confuse me LOL. What I don't like about Currie on the Extreme 60s is the upper front control arm mounts to the front diff cover along with the locker line. I feel that is a week point and a extra pain in the ass when you change diff oil.

That front control arm mount bothers me, as well. Seems to me even it the cover was 1/2" steel, it would eventually cause a problem. I would think it would hammer on the bolts something awful.
On the other hand... the procedure to remove it would require jacking the weight off the front of the Jeep. Then once it's disconnected, your closer to rotating that layed-back cover and draining the oil.
Front axle oil change would be a two hour job?
