I know there are cabins to rent along Chalk Creek Road headed towards St. Elmo that look pretty cool. Also, on the west side of Tincup Pass there are cabins to rent as well.

San Isabel Forest is a beautiful place to visit for sure, in the summer months you just have to watch out for all the trail lice (razors), they're everywhere!

I'll check out..what are the trail lice (razors)? I hope it is not what I found on internet.

These were found in Maryland.

Some great places to take your family I posted up. St. Elmo you can feed the Chipmunks by hand and they crawl all over you. There are some pics on the net of them. Pretty cool.

America's version of Saint Mark's Square? :) Famous for pigeons eating corn off people. I had one actually peck a kernel off my tongue.

Haha, trail lice is a term we came up with regarding all the side by sides (razors) that race through the forest and ride your ass reving their engines until you can find a spot to let them pass. Not all of them are that way, but the majority are.
 
Found a cool park near the springs that when you reached the top of the mountain there was looked to be a small shelf dirt road leading back to the springs. Will go back to explore more later. Several hiking trails also.

Then came across this little gem needing some TLC. My wife said If we did win the lotto I would have a warehouse of toys like these.

I read that there are three total and the middle one you can still drive on with two tunnels to pass through. Have you been there? I believe you can still hike them too.
 
It used to be a hangout for the "cool kids" back in the day. I wouldn't go out there with protection but that's just me. It's a beautiful area nonetheless.
