Cooled down a little bit so worked on this thing for like an hour

Not a fan of how much play the rods have going to look up the spec if not it’ll be time to look for a donor Jeep

Rod #3 was the worst with .005” of clearance but it’s still within spec the rest were .003” and .004” since this ain’t no racecar engine looks like I’ll start resealing it now lol

Hot tank it and start fresh. Your balls deep into it at this point anyway.

It is not fun cleaning what seems to be a 44 year old gasket



Also this is why you don’t use stop leak all the cooling passages had this built up in em

Lifters weren’t lifting , took em out and cleaned up much smoother now

I didn't know you were going so deep.

While you have it torn down, you might want to take the block and heads to a machine shop and have them do mag particle to check for cracks.

Hate for you to button it up and find cracks the hard way.

To be honest I did not think I was going to go that far into it kinda snowballed when I started taking it apart

I hadn’t thought about the cracks we have a spray at work that works with UV light maybe I’ll use that and do a quick inspection before I put it together.
