Slight movement in Ball Joint

On my last tire rotation my mechanic mentioned I have a light play on my driver side ball joint (synergy) with about 8,100 miles on it.
I have not noticed anything driving yet, so at what point do I need to address this issue?

Rotational movement is 100% normal. A shifting side to side or up and down is an indication of a worn out joint. Unless your mechanic specified what he was seeing, I would say he's just trying to upsell you on work you don't need.

I would make sure it’s also not a wheel bearing. I myself have mistaken wheel bearing play for a ball joint upon initial inspection
