MOTHERS DAY WEEKEND 2025
So, as some of you may have noticed, I've been off the forum for a bit and that's because Cindy and I decided to head out to Tin Camp to de-winterize it and spend some quality time there and through Mothers Day weekend. Of course, while we're out there, I have zero cell and internet or at least, if we don't bring out our Starlink (which we didn't) and could only get service when we went into town. Anyway, here are a few pics that I took from our recent trip.
A big part of why we bought Bandit was to use him for trips just like this. A Jeep that's fun to explore and wheel in AND be good for work and carrying stuff to places like Tin Camp.
Ripley loving the wide open Nevada Desert.
So good to be back again!
One of the first orders of business was to head up to the top of the hill, set up our solar powered well pump and get water going into our cistern.
Unfortunately, there were clouds in the sky and that prevented the solar panel from getting enough juice going to operate the pump

Fortunately, we have a second and more powerful pump that can be run off a generator
KEEP IT or KILL IT? Back at the cabins, I was doing some clean up and came across this guy.
Yes, it's a Great Basin Rattle Snake and venomous but they do a great job of rodent control and we have a LOT of chipmunks and mice around. Cindy and I aren't afraid of snakes but are somewhat concerned about Ripley coming across one and there's always the, just not seeing it until it's too late thing. Obviously, it wouldn't take much for me to deal with them but the question is, should I? What would you do?
After a long day of working on the property, we decided to head into town for one of the best steak dinners we've had anywhere - JT's!
The following day, we decided to chop down a pretty good size but dead White Pine next to our A-Frame Cabin. This is a shot of before...
And, after a ton of work...
Time to cool off with a cold one
Sure do love the clouds
Time to settle in with some whisky and a fire.
CHEERS!
A few sunset shots.
End to a great day in our cabin.
Every morning, at the crack of dawn, this girl was ready to ignore all her favorite toys and just begging to get back outside.
Time to go for our morning walk and take in the views.
I have to say, more than mice, these guys are a real pain in the ass! Yes, chipmunks and holy hell, they really don't give a shit about us and if anything, they're kind of pissed that we're trying as hard as we are to keep them out of the cabin.
Most of our time on this day was spent working on plumbing problems and cleaning but we did get out from time to time just to enjoy the place.
On another walk to dig through some of the old tins and enjoy the views.
An old Nevada tag from June 1958 that Cindy found.
Enjoying yet another lovely sunset.
So nice to be able to take a hot shower and end the evening with some good whiskey - CHEERS!
Shot from our loft and getting ready to call it another night.
And last but not least, a parting shot before heading back to Carson City - Until next time.
I know, not a whole lot but mainly because we spent most of our time doing stuff. In any case, I hope you enjoyed the pics
