Where did your Jeep take You this Week?

...After we cleared the Dugway we headed into Bears Ears and through Beef Basin, mostly forest service roads here but we got hit by a pretty heavy rain storm.

First casualty. My shoulder is a bit jacked up so big thanks to Tim for the help changing this big heavy bastard. Think I cut it on The Dugway climb.

From there we headed through Bobbys hole and in the back way of Canyonlands Needles district, I unfortunately didn't get any pics in Bobbys hole. Canyonlands is freaking amazing...

Darlene, Jim and I had to sit in the Sun for Lunch while Jennifer and the Dogs hogged all the Shade.

After Canyonlands we headed to Lockhart basin to take the back way into chicken corners at Moab, Lockhart is a long run with some obstacles every now and then to keep you on your toes.

... And, we made Chicken Corners!

It was already mid-day Sunday, hot and crowded in Moab. While headed to town to get fuel we discovered that my tie rod had flipped itself (stupid clamped tie rod, gonna replace that) and beat up my steering stabilizer a bit, no big deal but I wanted to at least get it straightened out before I hit the highways again. Had we hit up any of the Moab trails we would have been getting out of there late. Tim and Darlene had to get back home for work Monday morning and I wanted to put a couple highway hours between us and the Moab crowds/ prices, so we hit the food trucks, fixed the tie rod and called it a trip. I think in total we only did about 30-40 miles of pavement, and a good chunk of that was an opportunistic fuel top off. And I think we did about 300-350 miles of dirt. So I'd say Tim's trip plan was a success. It was an epic trip/adventure, of course there's always so much more than pics can convey. Me and my wife would like to thank Tim and Darlene, our new friends, for having us along on this amazing trip! Hope to do another soon!

With some weather rolling in we moved out to find our next camp site. We had a pretty steep rocky climb out of this valley on a trail called "The Dugway". It was a pretty fun climb.

Would like to hear the story on that car. Seems like a pretty remote area for that type of vehicle.
Maybe some Thelma and Louise shenanigans.
 
Sad to say as CA kid this is the first time I have been up to the Rubicon. Quick in and out trip and back in time for a potluck dinner. I can see why some complain about the trail and traffic. After taking an hour to get into the bowl and passing three broke rigs (that had little business being on the trail) I kind of wished to be just lake side with a chair. But it paid off in the end. Next time they whole way through.
Sucked to have no cameraman as well to document 😕. Only a few snaps.
