Where did your Jeep take You this Week?

Mine took me Camping this past weekend in the Shenandoah.

After slowly recovering from Bicep surgery (and not being able to drive because my jeep is a manual) I can finally use my arm, and get out again. Took my first trip back into the mountains last Sunday. Beautiful Lakes Basin CA. Got to see Gold Lake, Snake Lake, and Little Deer lake. Great country up there. I've had my 2015 JKU Sport S Jeep for just about a month, so I'm still getting to know her and enjoying the Fall scenery along the way. It is still fully stock, though I should have BFG KO2s by next week. I'm unfamiliar with what the level of difficulty the local trails are here, so I'm trying to choose easy to medium difficulty. Saturday we took Dog Valley Road from Cold Springs to Verdi, IDK, people seem to get confused on whats there I think, some tell me its difficult the way we went, but I didn't even use 4wd. I think the harder part is when you head up the Henness Pass section, to Truckee? It was a nice afternoon non the less, and great views along the way.

Today was a gorgeous day, and with a storm blowing in for the next few days I decided to get my Mom out for a quick drive. She is 81 and has dementia and I am her caregiver. She can't hike and camp like she used to, so I though that owning a Jeep might be a way we can get out and enjoy nature together. I'm not likely to approach very challenging terrain with her riding along, but today was a bit more challenging that I expected. We went up to Hunter Lake Road for the first time. I knew ahead of time that the road has many legs, and I chose wrong , well sort of...We did eventually find the destination, but not until after getting sidetracked on a pretty steep hill climb with lots of loose rock on top of hard packed dirt. I chose to not park and get photos of that bit :D Next time after some more experience with Nataqua and the new tires on I want to follow through with the trail, going all the way to Big Meadow.

Laurel Highlands Jeepfest at Nemacolin Woodlands yesterday. Let daughter do most of the driving. Mud, mud, mud.

That's awesome. My son has his learners permit and I've just started letting him drive the jeep. He's driven it twice now and it being a manual he's getting the hang of it. My biggest piece of advice is not to freak out if you stall it at or in an intersection. Remain calm push in the clutch and turn the key. You freak out it won't happen that smooth. Oh and I learned you can go from 2nd to 1st at about 25 mph..haha.

I took mine up to Hollister Hills for Tepui fest. What an awesome venue. Great rigs, great people. The best part was that 80% of the Overlanders were Toyota's of some sort and my JKU took top honors with best in show[emoji16]. Took mine under a mountain instead of over....

We have an abandoned tunnel in Montana that connected what is now two Ghost towns. Comet and Wicks... the old trail tunnel goes over 1 mile under the mountain and comes out the other side. There are some rocks and ledges in the tunnel but the thing that keeps low profile cars and such out is the deep water in places, and the muddy trail to get there. A crazy place to be jeeping!

It’s sure does!!! It’s hands down the toughest wheeling I’ve done in our state! I would say the easiest trail would be a 7 outta 10...It truly is the best place I’ve wheeled yet!!! It has Mud, rocks mountain faces you have to climb and the best views I’ve seen in Michigan!!
