When were you hooked?

Jeeps abound here around Detroit. but until I actually took one (used with a soft top ) out for a test drive, I didn't understand what I was missing. From the moment I got behind the wheel, looked out the unique rectangular front windshield, felt the pull back and forth from the large tires, heard the road noise, and experienced the ease in which I could turn in near perfect circles in the parking lot, I just had Nooooo idea! From that moment, I'd say I was hooked! And all within a simple basic daily driving scenario, Off roading adds a whole new upgrade to the addiction!

It's the old car salesman's tactic of get them out for a test drive and the hook is set.

My son @ 20mos. He's hooked!!

To be honest, just VERY recently.

I used to wheel an old K5 Blazer and had ATVs. Then, I dropped them and dabbled in drag racing. When the money dried up I sold everything again and focused on cycling, (bicycles not motorcycles). It was my wife that converted me to being a Jeep fan. She had always wanted one but I resisted. It wasn’t that I didn’t like them…. It was that I felt they were too band-wagonish. It seemed everyone had one. In the end she won out and I bought the Jeep we have now for her. Long story made short. She was right and I was wrong…. I love this damn Jeep!

Something else I love is the Jeep community. In all the circles and clubs I have been in, it is by far the best group of people. We ended up joining a local club a little over a year ago and I already view many of them as not only friends ,but an extended family.

I got hooked on Jeeps at age 14 when I got my first Jeeo...my grandfathers 1968 Jeepster Commando. Since then, there has never been a time that I haven't owned a Jeep or six...

My wife and I have been going to Tahoe for every summer vacation for the past 36 years and always had a curiosity about the Rubicon Trail. We drove up the Tahoe side in our Mini Cooper one summer and saw all these really cool Jeeps coming off the trail at the staging area and thought - let's check these out. The people were just like us - conservative, happy people.
We went that summer to the Jeep Dealer in San Luis Obispo and got a tremendous 0% loan 2011 Rubi that became the platform for our new adventures.
Can't wait to do the whole Rubicon this summer!

1976, my friend had a 1978 CJ7 Denim Edition. He took me for a ride, top down, mid summer at a local area known for off roading. I was hooked.

When I was a kid, my uncle used to come visit us in his CJ. We'd pull the top and cruise around town. That's when I knew I wanted a Jeep.

When I was 15 y/o and the time came to get my first car, I looked at a couple of CJ 7s. The one I wanted was a royal blue four speed with a 304 under the hood. But the floors were so rusted that I had to pass.

25 years later, I finally got my Jeep- 2012 crush Rubicon unlimited...and I haven't stopped smiling. :D

I thought I was hooked when I got my friend to give me a ride around with no doors and top on. Then ordered my own and I feel after the first offroad trip I was then truly hooked after I learned when to use 4-lo. Then after a few trips and finally meeting some of the wayalife guys, I knew I was finally home and In the vehicle I waited way to long to finally purchase.

Iv always been into offroading but i was more into trucks and motorcycles and one day me and my wife pulled into a gas station and there was a red jk pumping gas and ever since that day i had my mind set on getting a 4 jk. Forward a year later i have my jeep and its the best decision i ever made

2009 LA auto show. Better half wanted to look at two sport coupes. Jeep had this billy bad azz red 2 door JK as their teaser vehicle. We must have went back to that display 6 times to look at it. Now something similar to that vehicle since in the garage.

I with you on the Rubi.

I got hooked by BONDSEY building his Jeep up in his garage.

I've Always loved jeeps and thought dang those are awesome, then my boyfriend got one and I thought "screw it I'm getting one". I'm actually on my second jeep now and I'm super excited!

I had always dreamed of having one but never had the opportunity do to limited funds growing up. As time past away it was always in the back of my mine every time l seen one on the road. But l always said that one day l will have one. That time came about a year ago and have loved it since than.

I wanted one way back watching MacGuyver on tv as a kid! My husband and I wheeled a '72 bronco for a few years before selling it to build our house. 18 months ago we decided to rent one while in Hawaii and my husband decided to buy one when we got home. I drove his twice and went out and bought my own. Now we both run 2013 JKURs modified and wheel them often!! I missed my sequoia at first but I would not change a thing!!!

When I was a 18 yr old kid in the Army I drove a M151 in Korea. I loved that little thing. When I got home I soon forgot all the fun I had in it and got married and started my family. I drag raced for 30 yrs and made a name for myself as a racecar fabricator and business owner and one day my wife of 28 yrs hit me with a divorce. Well after 6 months of freedom I realized I hated being single and went on E-Harmony and met my new wife. We got married and went to Hawaii for our honeymoon. There we rented a 2013 wrangler 2 door and a flood of old good time memories rushed in and when we got home we got our 2014 JKUS. As I am typing this I'm thinking of taking the long way to work.

The Wayalife videos hooked me. I used to be all about street and track performance, the text book numbers guy. Lap times, quarter miles and metrics were my measurement of a car. So naturally, Jeeps never occurred to me.

Then I watched the Rubicon Trail series on the youtube channel and was instantly intrigued. Mustangs can't climb rocks but a Jeep can. Then I cruised this forum for months and saw the community that was here. Between the awesomeness of rock crawling and Jeeping and the amazing group here, I'm hooked. I still love street machines to death but I've added a built Jeep to my dream garage.

So thanks Eddie and Cindy for making a Jeep addict out of me.

Story of my life right now. Still don't know when I'll be able to get one. Good to know someone has been where I am.
