That was my number one thing I didn't want to spook when I backpacked in the high country. My primary reason for carrying a 50 cal. I've heard numerous stories of protective moms getting really pissed at dogs. Maybe it's in their nature because they normally live where wolves do.

As much as I would love to carry while on this trail, the club is very against it (it’s private property)… I’d probably get banned if I’d have to use it to protect myself. Only the members can carry and not get into trouble.

I saw a video a week or two ago where a moose was chasing a full grown grizzly. The grizzly was obviously terrified. Both were running very fast.
