What's in your humidor?

I've three padrón cigars sittin' there waitin' for the match to burn!

Due to funding issues and oh a wedding, honeymoon and a house, I am not able to spend as much for my favorite cigars. That being said, I am vicariously living through the cigar porn you all post! Lol
 
I had to LOVE my Fuentes "Short Story" almost a peppery spice flavor.. That little thing would burn for an hour.

I do not condition my humidore. I use gel sticks as a means to keeping my cigars plump. My deployment huidore has not been seasoned and the cigars are perfect. I also use flower arrangement beads which can be picked up from Lowe's as a way to keep my cigars fresh.

Okay. I was hoping to get my hygrometer working but it's never been very good. I've had the humidor over 7 years. Perhaps ill try the gel sticks. Thanks!

When I was deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 I used a 9mm ammo can as my humidor and the jar of gel and it worked perfectly. You can get the gel sticks from your favorite cigar shop or online. I think mine came from JR's Cigars.

Frank, if you have a cedar humidor(most of them are) you might want to remove all your cigars, take a clean cotton cloth soaked in distilled water and wipe all the surfaces with it and leave it for a day or two. It helps jump start your humidor and helps balance the humidity. Otherwise, the wood will soak in all the moisture from your cigars. Gel sticks work wonders but only worked for me after wiping the inside of the humidor down.

Thanks Len, that's the info I needed. Looks like I'll be doing this humidor "mod" this week.

Another thing you can do when in a bind is to take a few (3 to 5) sheets of paper towel and fold them a few times, then soak them in distilled water, put them in a zip lock bag and place the bag in the humidor. Make sure the paper is soaked but not drenched to the point that water will trickle out of the bag when laid in the humidor. The zip lock bag should stay open, such that the humidity gets transferred to the humidor without actually making contact with the water. Leave it in the humidor until your hygrometer reads the desired humidity level. I tend to bring mine up to about 75% during the summer. Enjoy!!!
