I’ve been locked in the house for a week, about to lose my shit
Scored this twill top on FB Marketplace for $120. Yes you read that right. Seller wanted $200, I reached out to make arrangements to check it out as it was described as never installed. Thought something must be wrong that they’re missing. Seller says that her brother in law abandoned it and moved out of state. When my son and I arrived they were scrambling to get all the parts together and it was caked with mud in several places from being left outside in fridays thunderstorms. I checked it all out and other than being really dirty and some relatively minor scratches in the windows it’s was in fairly decent shape. I offered $140 and she accepted. We spent the next 45 minutes hosing the top and windows down in their driveway. After this she offers me $20 bucks back for all the trouble of cleaning it and being unprepared. I insisted she keep it but she wouldn’t take no for an answer she was extremely happy to “just get rid of it.”
After we got home my oldest son and I continued the cleaning process and installation. During the last step of the night which was installing the rear window. The upper right “stay pad” nylon strap (keeps tension in the rear of the top to retain shape) tore at the corner of the bow right off the frame. FUCK! I thought some kinda karma was biting me in the ass for practically stealing this thing. This morning I drilled out the rivets and figured out a way to reinforce and repair it with screws/washers, a torch to melt the frays, and doubling over the strap. After my first attempt it was fairly clear that it was ready to tear again, other than using screws instead of rivets, I assembled it exactly like the other side. I’m gonna try and polish the rear window some, but I can definitely live with it if it doesn’t get any better.

Thanks guys! Yeah we’re really happy. I have a set of Rubicon rails in NJ I’m gonna check out tomorrow for $100 and then I’m leaning towards selling the hardtop off this 2dr.Score. Congrats. I've been looking around for a used soft top but most are incomplete or f'd up or priced close to new retail.
