Hooked
Ouch how many miles on the axles?Good news is, teeth on the ring gear and pinion look good. Bad news is, driver side carrier bearing is toast. You can see more metal bits just past the bearing cap.

40,000… maybe 45,000.Ouch how many miles on the axles?
I’d like to get it fixed as soon as possible but in this day and age, who knows. That sucks. How soon are you going to get it fixed?
Dana axle shims are a PIA… I could see myself doing that during installation. I can’t think of any way after set up for a shim to come out, but letting one falling into the housing while holding the 40 pound differential races and shims all together happensSo, it is a shim and everything else looks okay. In all the years that I've been doing this, I can't say I've ever seen a shim get jacked up like this. Not even 100% sure what could cause this.
As far as warranty goes, I doubt it and really, I'm fine with that. Not like we haven't got almost 50k out of the axle and while punishing it.
Yeah, can I take a picture of your shirt?……especially between the red and blue lines…..Good to be back home in Carson City and dining at our favorite breakfast spot!

No No No they prefer the more sensible high speed train. At some point CA may have to resort to desalination plants to meet fresh water needs…I have no idea what AZ is going to do…the Colorado river is about to tap out…
I think you were totally lucky you didn't find any coins in there with it.So, it’s weird because I just pulled out the big piece and honestly, I’m pretty sure it’s a shim.

That would make sense in that, I’m not feeling or seeing any other real damage and the whine I was hearing sounded more like gears that weren’t set up right than anything.
Such a cute pup!Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
