Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome!
I have been on this forum nearly every day since I ordered my Jeep and I have been putting together somewhat of a build list but I have a question on wheels. I am coming from the world of sports cars where we have short stiff sidewalls and the tire size and rim width must go hand in hand. I can imagine that with a lot more sidewall, and softer sidewalls the rim width to tire size ratio wouldn't be as sensitive but then again I could be wrong. The wheels I am looking at are a 17x9" with a 4.50 backspacing. Are the stock JKUR 255/75/17 tires too narrow for the 9" rim. I know on a sports car a 255 tire and 9" rim are perfect for each other but the sidewalls are obviously much much shorter and stiffer and I am sure there's a reason why Jeep would mount them on a 7.5" rim instead of a 9". Would there be draw-backs to that setup on the JKUR or does it not really make much of a difference? If it's a no-no then I will just stick with the stock Rubicon wheels until I can do a small lift/wheels/larger tires at the same time.
