Want a Horse?

As some of you may know, there are a LOT of wild horses up in Northern Nevada and to the point where it's kind of a problem. Needless to say, some get rounded up every year but then get saddle trained and offered up for adoption and for just $150. If you're interested, here is a link to where you get one on February 22, 2025.

My parents get over ran with them out in Stagecoach if they don’t keep their main gate closed. Kinda wild how quickly they show up

Funny how people’s perceptions of animals can determine if they’re edible or not.
I never have and never will eat horse but it’s a delicacy in a lot of cultures. Lots of meat on one that’s for sure

I remember my grandparents feeding canned horse meat to their dogs, and they had horses. It’s been outlawed now but they used to slaughter horses for pet food. Other countries eat the meat. One of the reasons so many horses die inhumane deaths in this country these days is because they cannot be slaughtered so anyone with an old hay burner has limited choices what they can do with them.

Yup. People hold them to higher standards for whatever reason. No problem eating Bambi though.

Sending horses "to the glue factory" was not a metaphor then

I used to live right next to a blm horse and burro holding facility. Was always fascinated with how they “managed” them. Glad to see the price for adoption hasn’t gone up. lol

Basically just the cost of a vet to give some vaccines was my understanding.

Hard to believe but yeah, it's been the same price for as long as I can remember. Basically, the cost of vaccines and all they want to make sure of is that you have the means to care for them.

I’d actually love to have a tamed mustang and I’m really glad they do this but long term upkeep and maintenance of a horse is a pretty big investment. Not saying it’s not worth it we’ve had horses before and they are great to have but we’re done with all that.
